Paying no mind to what everybody else thinks about her - she's still got bigger balls then me. I think I would crap myself if I ever got close to 200 mph while sitting three inches off the ground.

Gander to guess what teams the top 4 drivers were in? Ganassi and Penske. So Patrick was the best of the rest. I guess that just means every one in IRL sucks except for the Ganassi and Penske boys.

Ever watch Dust to glory? Remember that line, any fool knows how to step on the gas and go fast but its knowing when to slow down. Patrick may not have outright speed, and does seem to get into bad luck but she's shown consistency in being top 10. AGR are no longer the top boys in IRL, Ganassi and Penske have taken over and kudos to her for putting on hell of a fight in a second tier car last year.

I had heard that Audi chose her to prove that the Quattro was so easy to drive that "even women" could win in one. I think it is a little fishy but she was the only woman driving the "Killer B's".

She also won Pikes Peak a couple of times, just the thought of driving the peak in a fast road car makes me feel a little uneasy much less in one of those crap your pants Audis.

Okay...rant mode on. Apologies to everyone beforehand.

I think Danica's made the mistake that many other "celebrities" do. She's paying more attention to the hype than she's done to her job.

Unfortunately, since her job is motorsports, and she's racing in a professional series, that hype brings kilodollars to her team. And as long as her team-mate is fast enough to win some races, she'll be allowed to toodle around in the "other car" as long as her swimsuit pix keep the team's press releases on page one of the sports section of the paper, and the Corporate Overlords at GoDaddy keep signing checks.

I was really impressed with her in the Atlantics, and thought she'd be very competitive when she moved up. I was impressed enough after her performance at Indy in 2005 (first time I'd watched Indy since the CART/IRL split, to be honest) to think she had what it took, and that she'd be a contender in the series.

That's when the hype began...and also when her performance fell off. It seems like she's much more interested in maintaining the "Legend of Danica" these days than she is in winning berkeleying motor races. IMO, she's lost her focus.

Hoo, boy...If I were concave, rather than convex, I'd be seriously pissed off. To me, it seems that Danica once had the talent, and the tools to actually bury the "male vs. female" crap in racing once and for all, but just pissed it away to be "famous". Even though they've never said so publically, I'll bet Lyn St.James and Denise McCluggage have voodoo dolls of Danica on their mantlepiece these days. Or at least have been discussing what the "Close, But No Cigar" trophy should look like..

EDIT: For the sake of full disclosure, I should admit that I think Danica's "hot". I hope my confession will actually support my comments about the situation...

Good driver? Uh...no, not really. Sort of unsure of her line, and, as other have pointed out, no sense for subtlety on the pedals.

As the sports editor of a newspaper I'd like to say that I have never and will never allow Danica on the front page of my section unless she wins a damn race.

She's page two at best and often just a two inch capsule with all the other motorsports news.

There's a real woman driver, right there. I have respect for Danica, and Ashley Force, and a bunch of other great woman drivers (Troxel...) but Muldowney came into a boys only club and took names. You gotta respect that.

I guess it might depend on my age (47)? I think Sabine's an amazingly good looking woman. I like the real ones better than the fashion models anyway..
