Also have to mention that today the storm was battering my neck of the woods today and near GRM headquarters. A couple was swimming in Daytona Beach during the storm and the lady drowned, they said she prolly got hit by a wave smacked her head against the ocean floor and that was it. It's sad but are you serious? Swimming during a tropical storm?

Surfers here love it when a hurricane is blowing up offshore. They all migrate to the Outer Banks and Va Beach to take advantage of the much larger waves.

Gratutious Point Break reference. 
Point Break is an awesome movie. I recently purchased it on blue ray because i like it that much. My freshman year in college I think I watched it about the first 20 days because thats all my buddy would play at his apartment.
Anyways surfing is a different story than kite boarding. Especially with the major wind gusts a tropical storm brings.
Tonight I went running and grilled out. IMO there's nothing more American than grilling in inclimate weather.

all I can say... Ouch
He was admitted in critical condition, now upgraded to serious, so he will be laid up awhile, but recover. He wasn't all that stupid. He and his friends had gotten out of the water because things were getting hairy and was in the process of taking off his equipment when the gust caught him. Very experienced kiter, but could not reach the release because of the power of the gust. E36 M3 happens.

I used to windsurf quite a bit. The most radical thing I ever did was sailing when a typhoon was coming in near the place I was living in Japan. Luckily the sail was attached to the board so I got blown over when things got too strong for me, but I didn't get picked up and carried away like that.
