By the way, I'd say the best scene ever in a Monkees episode is race between Davy and the evil Baron in the Cobra Daytona coupe.

That coupe is the only US-built Daytona and was Phil Specter's old car....the same one that was found in a storage locker after 30 years. It's currently in the Simeone Museum.

Wow--I haven't seen that clip since I was a kid!!! The inconsistencies weren't so apparent back then (like shifting an automatic--that didn't look like a slap-shifter). The Monkeemobile was/is a fantastic custom, though. What couldn't be better than a stretched GTO with a colossal blower???

Indeed, the story of the Spector Daytona is fascinating. Very strange history.
