Apparently this kids school says his name sign looks to much like a gun and violates their weapon policy...Let that sink in for a second. His NAME violates their weapon policy.

They should change his name to "Pew pew pew", with the sign resembling pulling a revolver out of a side holster, firing three rounds into the air and re-holstering said finger gun. 
That's right hypersensitive parents, make guns the forbidden fruit, that will totally quash the kids' interest. We don't need a repeat of the baby boomers who grew up playing Cowboys and Indians with realistic-looking weapons, remember how they all grew up to be homicidal maniacs?

No, his parents named him Hunter. He doesn't speak ASL, he speaks SEE, signing exact English. In ASL you sign groups of words, or more accurately, thoughts are expressed through signs. In SEE and other things like that each and every word is signed, it's a royal PITA.
Now, I know in ASL communities you are given a signed name by another deaf person, usually based on your personality. I don't think that's the case here. His name is Hunter, look up the sign for Hunter and it'll make sense.
I'm just surprised they saddled the kid with SEE and not ASL.

I was in high school when columbine happened. That was the beginning of the end. That year I got my boy scout knife confiscated so many times, I stopped carrying it on me. To this day I still don't carry a knife, because the habit was broke and I've never been able to get back into carrying one.

While I was out of school when Columbine occured. My Sis was still in HS. Two of her friends.. who had worn trench coats for almost their entire 4 years of HS without killing anybody, got suspended the day after Columbine and they had to see a counselor before they could come back.
And I agree.. why did they saddle this poor kid with SEE?
My kid is learning ASL. He's not hearing impaired in the least.... but it's a helluva skill to have.
