I hate to show my stupidity, anymore than necessary, but how do you know where your weed comes from?

Quality is the best gauge. But getting it from licensed dispenseries guaruntees it. Yay for Prop 215!

um, yeah, so did texas.

texas won its independence from Mexico (remember the Alamo, among other battles), before joining, seceeding and re-joining the US.

Way to "John Stewart-ize" what you read. She didn't ask for help to find the body. She wanted to know how the U.S. Government could allow something like this to happen, and, in a round about way, what they're doing to make sure it can't happen again. Pretty good questions, imo.

BTW, Spitfire... did you read the part about the prosecutor in Mexico that was assigned to this case was beheaded shortly after taking the case? I doubt this woman has that many connections.

I may not be remembering it correctly, but I thought I saw a press conference with the widow making a direct plea to Hilary to help her bring closure???

My best friend lived in Laredo for a year and a half. He said it was the most miserable he's ever been in his life. He couldn't really go outside at night, for fear of being kidnapped by drug cartel lackeys looking for the $200 they could get out of your ATM account that day.

And he's 6'3" 280lbs.

But keep believing it only happens on the Mexico side...

yes, independence was won at the battle of san jacinto, where soldiers were shouting "remember the alamo, remember goliad" which were also part of the Texas revolution

yes, she did ask hillary to ask the mexican gov't to assist in the initial search for the body in the lake, because US authorities cannot operate in the mexican side of the lake.

The US Govt. did not allow this to happen. It happened in MEXICO. To make sure it does not happen again, they could draw a border and tell you not to go into the other country...... Nevermind, they already tried that...

they were pursued well over two miles into US waters while being shot at, iirc.

Datsun - Car wreck in Canada vs getting murdered by drug dealers in Mexico? That is your comparison.....nice.

I would hope if I were in another country and got shot, or a family member got shot, I would receive some sort of assistance from my government. I've stayed in London and Istanbul within the last few years, both with the US Embassy in sight, which was comforting, but there have been occasions in other countries were things were a little more sketchy. I'm really surprised by the comments of some of you guys. Not Ignorant though becasue I think he is just trolling more often than not these days.

I guess whenever I travel out of the country I should pack heat and be my own one man army because there are no laws and I'm just berkeleyed right?

Interesting how the "die hard" conservatives from other threads are now not so interested in personal responsibility and now want to vilify me for merely verbalizing what they think they should think but don't really think that way cause if they really did think that way they'd be some bad people.

this guy is not amused that you didn't think the way that you thought he thunk you think.

this whole story just highlights the fact that the mexican authorites have zero control over what goes on in the border region, and several places well south of that.

look I agree with you to a point, these people did something that was stupid. For weeks leading up to this event there had been stories on national news about fishermen who had been shot at on the lake. Apparently it was also common knowledge to stay away from the mexican side.

Tragedy, yes. But we as Americans also need to remember that we don't own the world. When in another country, you need to live by their rules(written and unwritten). The government will try to help you if something bad should befall you, but the number one job of a traveler is to know what the hell is going on at all times and not get into that situation.
