Any suggestion on purchasing a Desktop Wireless Adapter? Looking to move my router and wireless equipment to a different floor.

It really depends on what capabilities your wireless router has, but I would personally go with something that has external antennae and has "AC" capability.

Quick amazon search found this: http://amzn.to/1PmphAm

I have also used something like this: http://amzn.to/1PmpmDW but its not AC, just N.

In my own house, I eventually bit the bullet and ran cat6. It probably isn't as bad of a job as you fear and is a lot more reliable than wireless.

I have also used old Linksys WRT54GL routers with DD-WRT firmware and set them us as wireless bridges, which allows for multiple hard wires plugged into one unit. It was too painful to run a wire to an area of my house that has multiple devices and I did just that. The "easy" way of doing this is with a gaming adapter: http://amzn.to/1XCcubY

I am not a fan of the powerline stuff.
