So, I'm dieing... or something.
On Tuesday my neck and shoulders randomly stiffened up to the point of locking. This was accompanied by the wierdest pressure I've ever felt (an upward pressure from the base of my neck towards the top of my head). not headache inducing, but its presnce was known. on top of that, I've felt like I've been in a fog since then. Its not excruciating pain, just super tight and sore. The headpressure letup today, but now my upper chest is tight (coughing hurts). neck and shoulders still super tight.
wtf over?
You need to go see a doctor. This sounds like something neurological.
+1 on seeing the doctor. Don't delay.

Last time I went to the doctor for a pain in my neck/shoulders, all he wanted to talk about was cars and racing.

Sounds like you got a cool doctor. Hopefully you got some actual help from him instead of just a race discussion. Lol
Please go see a doc. That doesn't sound good.
Hopefully you get an answer, I have been feeling the same way for about a month. So far it's been diagnosed as a bad sinus infection, allergies, and then being out in too much heat/humidity. I go back Monday to try again but in the mean time I feel like crap.
You haven't answered any distress beacons on an alien planet lately have you?
Seriously though, go see a Dr.

Sounds similar to the pain I get from the herniated disc in my neck. On the other hand, I had something happen many years ago where my neck locked up. I went to a Chiropractor and he gave me immediate relief. Then it got worse again and again and I went back to him again and again until I realized he wasn't fixing my problem, just putting a band aid on it. Then I went to my doctor who sent me to a physical therapist who gave me two exercises to do. After living with this for almost a year, three days later the problem was gone. I was in college at the time, and it turned out I was studying while laying on the couch with my head propped up on a pillow. Doing that repeatedly is what caused the problem. In any case, you don't want to mess around with this, so I agree with others that you need to get to a doctor.
You need a petite young Asian woman to rub you thoroughly with scented oils and then knead you stiffness away, for hours.
This always helps; chest cold, sprained ankle, headaches, sunburn .......
Remember, 90% of fuel problems are electrical.
I mean, seriously, why are you asking us?

Was that Dr. Boost you were seeing?
I'm with bravenrace on this one. I have a permanently herniated disc in my cervical spine, and it presents very similar to the symptoms you're describing. Go see a doctor right away. If you catch a disc early enough, you can usually do something about it (I have a misfigured spine, I'm SOL).

That is not doctors office, that is the skanky motel that rents by the hour

That's the massage parlor, not the massage therapist.
Doctors are free over here. How good can anything be if it's free?

NOTHING is free.
Even you had to pay/invest in someone/something to post that response.

I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing a couple of beers or shots couldn't fix. I keed, I keed. Go see a real doc
I went. By the time I got there, the tylenol/muscle relaxant had kicked in and I felt slightly better. Doc says its probably because I lifted something like an idiot. The headache had gone away, it's back now, but my shoulders and neck feel 1 billion times better.
I still feel a bit foggy, but that may be due to the drugs + 4 hours of sleep I've gotten in the past 3 days due to the sore neck
Probably Torticollis - muscle spasms. I got it once, was a real drag til I got the Valium.
Then I slept two days, and woke up feeling fine.

I had the same thing happen the last time I lifted an idiot.

Always remember to lift heavy objects in a jerking, twisting motion from your back.
