Didn't lose smell, but EVERYTHING I ate was wicked salty!  Even breakfast cereal I couldn't finish.
Thank you CoVid?  I lost a few pounds....

Oh, for F's sake!   Who was offended?  It was clearly an unintentionally political joke.  Guess what is not allowed here?  Yes, even with the 1st amendment!  (Which you have clearly stated you have an obviously incorrect understanding of)

Guess what will not allow this subject to be discussed here?  Political comments / jokes. (Which has likely already derailed this thread). Thus my comment.

That's the rule but it's not applied uniformly.  A lot of rules aren't applied uniformly.  The 1st amendment is the law of the land in this country and it applies to all businesses operating in this country.  I'm sorry you don't like that.

COVID information was and still is being censored which isn't good at all.

Even the new EV thread has been derailed. That's human nature and how conversations work.  You can't control how people respond to your E36 M3 no matter how badly you want to.

You could've laughed and moved on, but you didn't.

I had it a little over a year ago and didn't think I lost my taste at first until I got my first swig of coffee after feeling like crap for a few days. It tasted strange for about a month from what I remember. Sweet seemed fine but sour/bitter things we strange.

I deleted my comment upon reading your post.  I admit I was overcome by a spontaneous impulse to make what I felt was a funny observation.

Thanks for the joke - it was funny.. and thanks for the self censorship too (to keep the train on the track).

I didn't lose my sense of smell nor did my wife or kids but my 22 year old picked up a circulatory/connective tissue disorder that landed on him in summer 2020 (before vaccines) and continues today so we're super conscious of stories like the OP link.

It's so weird how it hits everyone differently.

Yes, and I had the taste of pennies in my mouth for a long time. I'd estimate that the sense of smell has basically returned to normal after I recovered. The penny taste thing went away too.

I wonder if it was any way at all dependent on strain? I had OG and D, wife had D.

Please. I'm three days into trying to deal with the loss of someone who really meant a lot to me. Today would be his 43rd birthday.

I can only think it does. As variants came on, the bad effects go less bad, so it's a good conclusion to think there is a variant effect on smell distribution.

I never felt fatigue like that in my life. I had to go in every day because we were so short handed, and the three story walk from the parking level to my office I would need to stop several times. After a couple days I started taking the spare key to my truck home and drive up and down whenever I had to go to the office.

I've never had it, and I was around people that did, including my kids. I figured like chicken pox, get it and get it over with, so didn't banish them to the basement, etc. My Wife never caught it either. Go figure. I do know a few people that lost sense of smell, most say it's "mostly back"

This is ICU hearsay, but from working with the patients yes because the initial strain was so much deadlier than the later.

I didn't get it until I had already been vaxed and boosted, so all I got was a head cold that gave me brain fog. The alpha strain gave my stepdad diabetes and both my mother and sister post-covid fatigue.

Working in B'Ham AL for the past couple of years on and off (home is decker prairie Tx) I've noticed the different aromas, fragrances, scents, that I've been exposed to here. In particular when riding in the elevator currently where I work I believe  I'm exposed to VAP/perfume. Neither of which I'm particularly fond of. I'm thinking this an urban vs semi rural scenario. And no I've not had the "shot"....due to a blood clot in my lung back in April 2019.....peace out Y'all late

And it lingered (first time around, second time wasn't nearly as bad). I swear I felt completely wiped for a month. Like, get up, go to work, come home, eat, go to bed at 6pm. and I remember staring at the tv for who knows how long not even realizing it wasn't even on. Rather than reaching over for the remote I just layed down on the couch and went to sleep.

I caught it twice, both times after I had come home from the rehab facility. Both were fairly mild cases and I didn't lose my sense of taste, but it was altered for awhile. It's normal now. I do have issues with getting tired easily, but I don't know if it's because of the Covid or all the other E36 M3.

My post was in response to 1988RedT2.

As a libertarian, I don't think masks should have been mandated.

As a rational human being, I do think that anyone who refused to wear one is an idiot.

Oops.  They seem to have recognized their mistake.

Shifting gears back on topic, one thing that I've noticed since recovering from Covid is that my sense of smell is almost supercharged now.  I had a Miata a little over a decade ago, and I don't recall smelling things as much as I do now when I have the top down in the MX5.  Car and plant smells are way more pronounced than I can recall.

Have you read the OSHA standard for an N95 mask?  Do you know what the 95 means?  Do you know what the mask is rated to prevent transmission of?  This is all publicly available info published in the appropriate CFR and Federal Register.

And to be specific OSHA calls it a respirator which requires sizing and training to achieve it's designed rating.

How does everyone know which strain they had?  Is there a specific test for each strain?  How do the tests distinguish between different coronaviruses and different strains of any particular virus?

In reply to AnthonyGS (Forum Supporter) :

To my knowledge not available to the average consumer. I mean there is info claiming the early tests couldn't even accurately tell us if we had covid 19.

SWMBO and I got married in mid 2020 and had a rather large wedding and both worked and traveled the entire time. She caught it, it was mild, I never did (at least never got a positive test, and probably did 20 of them due to exposure to others that had it)

The genomes are sequenced by scientists pretty regularly, and if youre handy with a google search it is pretty easy to research lineages and see what the dominant strain was at the time someone had covid.
