Doing about 65, looked at my right side mirror, looked back just in time to get a quick glimpse before impact. The only leak I have is the windsheild washer fluid bottle got a small hole in it. But, you can see the other damage it did.
What'd you hit? Another car, or debris?
Now you got an excuse to update to the newer front end!

I forgot that little detail, didn't I? I hit a deer while going down the highway.

Ouch. That always hurts. I once busted a headlight narrowly missing the body of the dear, but I clipped it's hoof. The deer kept running.
even if you had been looking forwards instead of in the mirror.. you probably still would have gotten a bit of tail there..
At least the only thing hurt is the grill/lights and your pride.. all can be fixed

I hit one a couple of years ago that was laying in the middle of the road dead, killed by a previous vehicle. Boy did that make a mess of the bottom of my Passat! ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/unhappy-18.png)
Support, grill, hood latch, fender, door, bumper. Those ere bent up. I just got the hood up and the rad is tweeked a little, but usable for now. I have had plans in my head for a quad headlight set up like a 70s Dodge. I need to take measurments hile I have it apart.
We stopped just short of hitting a fawn that was laying in the road once. The bastard got up, and kicked a hole in the grill before running off.

Ungreatful little E36 M3....

This is the front most body mount.
That bird used to be lodged betweem the P/S cooling line and the A/C heat exchange. It got knocked loose.

Thankfully, it can all be removed and replaced.
In reply to AquaHusky:
apparently that vehicle is a wildlife magnet

I hit birds all the time no matter what I am driving it seems. Once, in my Metro, I hit a pidgin with the passenger side sealedbeam and it actually went through the lens and got stuck inside the light. But, in every other car I have owned, I have bounced a bird off the windshield at least once. It's odd to me....
Ouch! Hitting a deer in my E3 is what killed it. The impact split all the rusty places running up the LF shock tower.
Eh, well..at least now you can build that custom headlight treatment you were talking about.
You can probably just buff that out.
Our Pontiac Grand Prix is a bird eating champion.
It's hit who knows how many (but at least 2-3 dozen) small birds. They smack the windshield dead center. Has to be an airflow thing because they always hit the same spot.
But she has a thirst for larger targets as well:
Back before it was our car I spent the better part of an hour yanking a grouse out from being wedged under the bumper. I've also hit two pheasants, 3-4 turkeys and one big damn buzzard.
Unbeknownst, hit a barn owl w/ my '81 F-150, took me darn a week to find it after the odor got that bad. Straight through the grille w/o damage but it stewed near the rad.
Months old Silverado, goose flew into the windshield crackin' it. Turned around to find the critter, not to aid it.. but to finish the mofo off.
