A couple weeks ago my son had a minor accident and bent the front edge of the hood on my car. The bumper cover was damaged a few years ago by a piece of tire in the road and I had just stitched it up with zip ties.

I was planning to sell the car, but figure I should replace or repair the hood and bumper cover on my 2011 Elantra to make the sale easy and get the best price.

I'm having trouble finding a used bumper cover in the right color, so I was going to order an aftermarket and paint it. I'm finding that there are two versions of the cover, depending on the build location for the car (Korea or US). The US one is under $80 and the Korea build version is almost $250

Does anyone know what the different is and could I make the US version fit?

or does anyone want to buy a 2011 Elantra with minor front end damage? It has 172k miles on the chassis,  trans was replaced at 65k, and the engine at 95k under warranty.

I tried looking it up on my estimating software. The two covers are definitely different somehow, as even the aftermarket specifies the manufacturing plant. My guess is the difference is in the mounting.

Looking through the catalog, every part of that bumper is different. fog lights, covers, trims, rebars...

This reminds me of the Accords when they were starting to be built here. Japanese cars and parts were 3 times the US cars.

Is the difference Elantra Sedan and Elantra Touring Wagon?

2011 was the first year for the sedan that sort of looks like the current car but the Touring was based still on the 2010 design.

In reply to John Welsh :

That TOO.But 2011 was the first year they started building Elantra sedans in the US. All the Hatches (non-touring, the "GT") were still Korean built.

Are you sure you have a Korean built car?  If Korean, the VIN will start with the letter K.  If it is US built, the VIN will start with a number.

Thanks everyone.

It's definitely Korean built, so it looks like I'm stuck finding a bumper cover for a Korean build. I was hoping it was just some extra clearancing or windows for the tie downs used in shipping.
