Most of us objected to the white space because you all were so closed mouth about it, which is rather opposite from how things normally operate here. With the absence of data, we all substituted our own thoughts, most of which were along the lines of "advertising"
I think everyone was close-mouthed because nobody knew for sure exactly what we would do, just that it would be cool, and we needed some space in which to do it.
We did tell you it wouldn't be all about advertising.
