Right by the airport there are a bunch of crappy little places. Nothing that stands out. Unless you want to stop IN the city, which will send you just 15 or so out of the way (i.e. Ballpark Village). I believe I have made those suggestions to you before, but I don't know where you went.
If it were me, I'd go a little out of my way to get to the hill.
Its not even that far out of the way. Just take 170 past I70 to I64 to kings highway south 1 mile turn right on shaw boom Hill. Rigazzis is good and literally right there.
Sounds like a plan! I've been to St. Louis several times, but haven't made it to the Hill yet. I'll try to fix that tonight.

My personal recommendation is Cunetto's, but realistically you can't go wrong with any choice up there.
For retarded amounts of quality home and Cajun cooking, Lotawata Creek (http://www.lotawata.com/) is off of I-64 in Fairview Heights, IL. It's not even funny the amount of food you'll get served and it's all from scratch.
Lotawata Creek is awesome. Had a catfish po boy. It was monstrous. And delicious.
