We are in the market for new tires on my wife's 06 Toyota Sienna minivan. I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good tire for this. I was looking at DTD anyway, and now with the rebate it is even better. The tires are 215/65-16,and we want a good all season tire that will last a while.

Granted these are both higher performance all seasons, BUT- I've been happy with both the Yokohama YK520 and the newest Goodyear Eagle GT. Kumho Ecsta (sp?) ASX has been a popular all season in MN as well.

Oh yeah do I need the TPMS rebuild kits they are recommending? I thought the TPMS is on the valve stem, and won't be affected if just replacing the tires. Is this the case? My wife holed the sidewall of the right rear tire last week, and the tires aren't the greatest anyway, and they should be replaced soon anyway,so why not now.

I'm resisting the urge to order up a set of Falkens rt 615's... Between the instant $50 off, Falken also has a $80 mail in rebate.

must. fight. it.

You absolutely want to rebuild the TPMS sensors every time you mount/dismount tires. I've seen way too many times where the valve core ends up freezing into the stem and then you need whole new sensors. Our techs hate TPMS as it seems to cause more problems than it cures ...

Thanks mith612 I will get the kit then. Hopefully whoever I have mount the tires will know what to do with them.

I'm just glad that the TPMS on the Mini is speed sensed, as opposed to the valve stem ones on my ms3.

I am SO tempted to grab a set of RT615s for the Escort, but i'm unsure how much the girlfriend will like those in the rain on "her car."

Don't tell her they're on there, and say that the rain must be getting slipperier.

Does anyone know if the $50 discount can be combined with the $70 rebate on bfg tires? It didnt seem to be when i added them to the cart to get a quote on there.

She's not that dumb, Unfortunately/fortunately.

I really need to get a decent set of winter tires, anyways... but they don't seem to have a whole lot. Still looking.

We're going to 16s for the summer wheels anyways.

Eh, still not a good deal on the Azenis compared to Vulcan.

$130 off and free shipping doesn't beat Vulcan tire? What size are you buying?

I have had good luck buying from both DTD and Vulcan in the past but that is a screaming deal on the Azenis.

I just checked - with shipping figured in, Discount is about $5 cheaper for a set of 195/60-14 RT615s. It's possible the $80 discount applies to both (if it's a Falken discount and not a DTD discount) but the $50 sure doesn't. So DTD is at least $55 and possibly $135 cheaper than Vulcan in my case.

So turns out that there is a Discount tire and a Discount tire direct. Different websites.

Thank you for posting this. I've been putting off buying new tires for the 99. This is what I needed to push me over the edge, I guess.

So I bought some Yokohama's from DTD,and they recommended the TPMS rebuild kits. I bought these as the car had a amber tire warning light on the dash ever since we put the spare on the car. Well when I got the tires mounted today I found out the rims had regular rubber valve stems, and no TPM's. How does the car bring the light on without a sensor? The light is off now,and I have no idea how it works. Any help?

Chris

P.S. the car is an 06 Toyota Sienna LE with 215-65/16 tires if that matters.
