I have a local private scrap dealer who buys all sorts of electronic scrap and pays by the pound. Doesn't pay much, but it beats the government technique.

Ours only hits us $2 each for tires, electronics are free UNLESS THEY'RE BROKEN OPEN (far as I know this only applies to tube TVs, but I process my electric waste myself), but they had to shut down because their processor in another state had a covid outbreak.

There's another place that takes them and processes them on site though, I've been thinking about doing it myself, never thought about charging people to drop the stuff off though. I might run with that idea.

I have a friend that burns the precious metals out of them then disposes. Maybe someone around you does the same. Monitors though, you are screwed.
