I saw these hunterra field maps
https://www.hunterra.com/maps/field
I would like to make my own version if possible, the hunterra ones are $240.
Seems like a DIY version should be doable. But not really sure where start.
would I be able to print a high enough resolution picture off google earth to be decent?
would a place like staples have the water proof paper and be able to print it?

Those look like they're printed on vinyl. I wonder if a local sign shop can make them for you.
What is it? A waterproof topo map with contour lines?
Look for GIS data for the area, turn on the contour and photo layers, print and laminate.
Example from my area: https://gis.clark.wa.gov/mapsonline

That is a good idea thanks. Didn't think of that.

Thanks, It doesn't show up very good on my cell phone. I will have to check it out on the laptop when I get a chance.
It is a topo map, I really want to be able to "see the trees" and other landmarks to be able to route some paths on a property that I bought.
I don't know if you can see the trees on that GIS data or not. But maybe that is what the photo layer does?
Where are you? How large an area for a given map?
a drone pilot (like me!) can capture the imagery and gis data for you. They get stitched together and a shop can print it.
google earth is terrible quality.
in the end, it won't be cheap. Probably more than $240 unless a drone pilot gives you a great deal.

Lots of areas around the country have these sorts of maps available, check your local government websites.

I am pretty close to Findlay Ohio. I would like a map that covers about 50-60 acres.
looks like about 2 hours south of you if your profile is correct.
I thought about a drone but don't want to buy one and not sure on where to start to look for some one to take some pictures. Also not sure I really want to spend a lot on this project.
