I'm not sure that's where I would get the batteries for medical equipment. Keep some spares around.

She already has a few of those. THEY can pay for the cruise.

I've decided to cash it in. Regardless of the taxes, the security, or anything else, these bills hanging over my head are a major buzzkill to my general happiness. I would much rather be solvent now and take a modest hit on my 2013 returns than keep stressing about bills. It doesn't matter if its the wisest financial move, I want to sleep at night knowing the bills are paid.

The advice has been great. Thanks to all who chimed in. You all kinda confirmed what I was thinking.,
