2 weeks ago Lowes was putting out the Halloween stuff. Today the local Aco hardware had a Christmas display. I decided to shop elsewhere in protest.

They only do it because it works. You people keep buying all the holiday-themed crap, so the vendors love to sell it.
The local craft stores have had Christmas stuff out for a few weeks. I'll forgive that because it takes time to make things, so you need some lead time.

Correct on both counts. People buy it, so vendors sell it. Simple law of supply and demand.
And yeah, craft stores and other holiday "specialty" stores often sell stuff year round. I'll admit that I'm a Christmas display junkie. Love it. Each year, I add more stuff to our displays, both inside and outside the house. This year, I'm delving into the world of sequencing, i.e. having my lights flash to music which I'll be broadcasting on an FM transmitter. Definitely going to take up a lot of time to plan, create, and build. Some of the people who really go all out spend most of the year planning, so they buy stuff even in the spring. I actually just picked up about 15 tomato cages which will be turned into mini Christmas trees.
Don't like the Christmas stuff now? Don't goto a 364 day open Christmas store either.

You'd be reading about me in the national news.
Thomas Kincaide died so E36 M3ty paintings of villages with snow will be thru the roof this year. Better get there early for the best sales.
