I have to believe this has been raised before, but do we need a "In Memoriam" page for members of The Hive we've lost? I tried searching to see if it had been brought up before but couldn't find anything.
I haven't met very many of The Hive but it would be nice to get a short bio for the creators of the posts we spend so much time reading.
Thoughts?
I'll start.
Mike Smith. AKA Curmudgeon, AKA Jensenman. He's probably still in the top 10 on the leader board. (Edit. He's been pushed down to 12th.) He was a really great guy. Cancer got him a couple of years ago.
Here he is driving the Abomination before I bought it from him.
We built several Lemons cars together and ran 7-8 events.
This was after he had lost his hair. He went to a Lemons race as Uncle Fester.
He was my brother from a different mother. I miss him.
Another one.
Walter Jones. IIRC he went by WBJones on here. He was another great man. Never a cross word. Always willing to help a competitor out at an event and a joy to hang out with. Also lost to cancer several years back.

I didn't know anyone in the "real" world, so don't know enough to post about them here, but here is a list to get folks started off the top of my head. I'll delete the names from this post when anyone posts a devoted post to them, and when it's empty, delete the post altogether.
- Pigeon
- Hal
- Iceracer
- Spinout
- Dr.. Blade
- Brian. AKA. MO30.
- Swarfalot
Stroker, if you want to take over this and put it in the first post, feel free and I'll delete this one

Happy Andy. Dear friend and an all around great guy. Nobody, and I mean nobody that spent any time around him didn't like him.
Complications from a low-speed motorcycle crash took his life.

I totally missed this one. I was following his crash thread with earnest, and then it... stopped. I kinda figured something had happened, but to have it confirmed, 3 years later, hurts. I just went back to that thread and saw you posted, but I must have missed it.

This one reminded me of another bad bike accident: Foxtrapper.
Does anybody know what happened to him? It sounded like a very sever TBI; he was keeping us updated in this thread, but the updates unfortunately stopped.
I can think of 2 more:
Spinout
Dr. Blade
Both succumbed to cancer IIRC.
berkeley CANCER!
In reply to mtn :

Sounds like he's moved on from this forum then. Glad it's not the other result I was fearing.
Wally's better half, Jodi. That one hit me hard. Like sit down at work hard. I never met her (or Wally for that matter) but got to know her through Wally's posts.
Swarfalot, from the old old days.

Minor confession, I never opened that thread. I couldn't bring myself to open it. I read the title and immediately started tearing up about someone I've never met before. I felt embarrassed to be crying in the garage about a "stranger" so I just ignored it. I'm sorry Wally.
Truth is, Wally shared Jodi and all her beauty with all of us. As a road trip addict, I immediately think of all the good times from their road trip in Gary.
Not sure where I was going with this, and I can't really see the screen anymore, so I guess I'll go find that thread and catch up on things.

Also the reason DrBoost's avatar has a black band over Happy Andy's Go Dog, Go.

Exactly! Andy was a great friend. My family and his were supposed to vacation together a few weeks after he died.
I miss him daily.
Ovid_and_Flem aka Jim Pierce. There's not really anything else I can add that wasn't already covered in that thread, except that I still miss our frequent conversations. I thought I had a pic or two of him on my phone, but didn't find any, so I copied this one from white_fly that John cropped.
I had a total man-crush on jhaas. I do not possess the risk tolerance to be an entrepreneur. That guy was killing it.

I never met the man, never even had a conversation with him off the forum. Don't even think I had much direct interaction with him on the forum, but he was still one of my favorite people. Out of all 7 billion people.

You and me both, brother. His 49er build was one of the things that pushed me to just come to the Challenge, even if I didn't know a soul who would be there.
I mean, he pulled the car out of a river, swung it onto a crown Vic chassis and drove it to FL. So much love.

I was so sad when he passed. Some of his threads were truly epic.
