...the 21st night of September?
I heard an interview with them asking the significance of that date. Basically they started at the 1st and just sang each number in succession until they hit the date that scanned best.
In reply to Duke :
Similarly I heard an interview with Allee Willis who co-wrote it with them. She got frustrated and asked, "What the berkeley does 'Ba-de-yah' even mean?!?" Do which Maurice White replied, "Who the berkeley cares?!?"
Earth Wind and Fire, my favorite disco band of the 70s. Great musicians and sound great at 110db.
Just remember, women like to dance and they don't want to dance to no slow poke country. Nothing better than disco.
How about Earth Wind and Fire plus Chicago?
Oh, we remember. That's the night that I hit a minor manhole cover in the Z3, and three seconds later the passenger door airbag exploded. My wife's arm on top of the door on a beautiful top down night meant she punched the A-pillar and bloodied her hand. Thank goodness the angle wasn't a little different where she would've punched herself in the face LOL. We always joke about it happening on the 21st night of September.

that's where I learned my licks.
I saw an artist named Lauren Daigle do a version of that song at Red Rocks Amphitheater on September 21st last year. It was probably the best cover performance I've ever seen!!!! I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

Russian cover band Leonid and Friends is mainly known for Chicago covers, but they also did a good one of September. They're on tour in the US right now.
I was in college when September came out, it was a pretty big song at the time.
