I definitely wouldn't. Seems a lot like laughing at your own joke
If I feel strongly enough, I delete my post. I’ve done that more than a few times after I’ve had time to think about what I’ve said.
Oh, thumbs up. I was thinking thumbs downing myself. Up, no.
Is there any definitive count on the post with highest thumbs up? I wonder if we can put a post into triple digits?
Robbie said:Simple question. I don't, as part of some sort of silly self-righteous "I have morals; I live by a code" feeling. I am vain enough that I would not be being honest if I tried to tell you I don't look back at my posts to see if they are thumbs-uped.
So: what do you do?
Never. And I think thumbs-up on your own post should disable anyone else from doing it. (That would probably be a lot of extra code though)

I don't find the thumbs, but the thumbs find me...
This post has received too many downvotes to be displayed.
I have never seen a thumbs down.....so I''m going to try and thumbs down my post. Feel free to thumbs down this post... you wont hurt my feelings.
EDIT,
Whelp I did see a -1 briefly but it went away
Maybe I'm "over-psycho-analyzing" but I think sometimes one thumbs up triggered a bit of a waterfall effect where people who would not regularly have thumbed a post decide to.
Also, I think there might be a critical mass above which there is a preverse peer pressure that gets going and a potential thumber might feel like thumbing the post keeps them in the "in" group.
Reading the list of top thumbed posts was interesting.
In reply to Doc Brown :
Showed zero for me. My thumb down got it to -1. Another thumb down gets it to -3 for a split second, then goes to -1.
Edit: back to zero as soon as I posted.
What good is a +1 without a -1?
In reply to Doc Brown :
I thumbs-downed it and it was -1. Came back to thread and it is zero. Gave it a thumbs up and it went to -1.
Tried to find the "my brain is full of berkeley" image. This came up.

I Thumb others, but not myself. I watch them in my build threads to see if anyone is actually reading the things.

You have no idea how witty i can be on this here internet thing. Almost as much as in real life
GameboyRMH said:You can do that? I'm about to check...
Edit: WHAAAT I didn't know you could do that! Just assumed you couldn't. Seems like cheating, so I'll continue not to
Edit2: Did someone thumb me down to put this post back at zero? Just curious. Or was a bugfix rolled out?
I thumbed you down from zero.
I accidentally thumbs up myself then I thumb down myself
A topic about thumbs and NO thumbs?!
Pit of Misery for all of you!
Dilly Dilly for me!
Oh and Russia hacks the thumbs. Some poncey Brit told me.
I get thumbed down, but I get up again, 'cause you're never gonna keep me down...
In actuality mods have no power over the votes here. Everyone is allowed one upvote and one downvote per post. I do get my +1 on around here, but never my own posts, that's just silly. Shout out to my stalker who regularly gives me a thumb though, you rock
Robbie said:RX Reven' said:I once posted in the Minor Confessions thread that I occasionally give myself a thumb’s up and when I checked the thread later I had something like seventeen thumbs up…bhahaha!!!
Anyway, no, I actually don’t give my own threads a thumb’s up but not due to mortal awesomeness, I just figure the mods can see where the thumbs up are originating from and I don’t want to look like a massive narcissist.
Fear of audit. The only thing that keeps you financial guys in check...
This actually made me laugh, not wanting to look like a narcissist but believing that the mods have time to look at each of your posts to see if you are voting for yourself....
I couldn't love GRM the magazine or the website more, and believe me, I don't like to be the P.C police or anything or the guy who has a problem with everything thing, but I do have a problem with this...
I find it a bit offensive that you use terms like "Thumbs up", "Thumbs down" etc etc... for your little descriptions or whatever. I myself have two opposable thumbs, I feel sensitivity for people without them as my grandfather lost both of his in an accident at the pudding factory.
These terms are obviously meant to insult people who can not give thumb signals, and it appears that they are used on these boards in a joking sense which, as I view it, makes light of people who are afflicted with missing digits.
It just dosen't seem right to me, thats all. I know that it's not my message board, and that noone forces me to post here, but all the same, some things are wrong when they really don't need to be.
P.S. Grandpa did eventually get cadavers big toes attached in place of thumbs but for most of my childhood I had to open our afterschool bourbon since he couldn't palm the bottle open.
