Did anybody ever buy one of these things unless they were required to by A) government contract, B) financial desperation, or C) both?

My mother in law has a galant. They bought it new. No idea why except father in law gets a pretty big discount on them...but he gets that discount on Toyota and Lexus and Nissan as well, so, I'm still not sure why?
The 200 with a 295 hp pentastar sounds like blast except for the last time I was in a late 2000's rental Avenger, the ergonomics were terrible.
My daughter got a 200 as a rental when her car got rear-ended. I drove it a little and it seemed pretty nice for its segment, even in institutional spec. It's pretty, too, for what it is.
But the Avenger just seems like such a dismal thing, inside and out. Every bit as uninspiring to drive as its predecessor, except redesigned as a lumpy, dumpy sedan instead of a sleek-ish coupe.
now this was an Avenger. If I ever get wealthy.
