Did anybody ever buy one of these things unless they were required to by A) government contract, B) financial desperation, or C) both?

Sold new to rental companies then flooded onto buy-here, pay-here car lots.

My mother in law has a galant. They bought it new. No idea why except father in law gets a pretty big discount on them...but he gets that discount on Toyota and Lexus and Nissan as well, so, I'm still not sure why?

I "hear" the avenger with the pentastar is pretty fast. That is all I got.

I drove an avenger once as a rental car. I found it awful.

The 200 with a 295 hp pentastar sounds like blast except for the last time I was in a late 2000's rental Avenger, the ergonomics were terrible.

My daughter got a 200 as a rental when her car got rear-ended. I drove it a little and it seemed pretty nice for its segment, even in institutional spec. It's pretty, too, for what it is.

But the Avenger just seems like such a dismal thing, inside and out. Every bit as uninspiring to drive as its predecessor, except redesigned as a lumpy, dumpy sedan instead of a sleek-ish coupe.

I have also heard the R/T with the "6" was actually a decent driver. No firsthand experience.

A friend of mine bought an Avenger R/T, it was actually a decent car.

Mitsubishi is a very funny thing. I had a cousin who married a Mitsubishi devotee. He started with the first Mitsubishi/Dodge Colts. Apparently, they were good to him, and when Mitsubishi opened their own dealerships in the US, he never bought anything else.
