Does anyone have any real-world experience with the 4.0? I can't find much info on this, but I believe it's based on the 3.5L V6? Are there any gotcha issues with the 4.0? I mean, we're talking about a 13 year old engine, I get that. Any known sludge issues? Are the heads made from compressed graham cracker crumbs?
Is this the 4.0L in the Chrysler Pacifica? ( the first body style)
This 4.0 was also offered as "the big engine" in The Town and Country.
Typically, there is not a lot of love out the for the original Pacifica. I have no personal experience.
They're sort of related to the 24 valve 3.5 which is sort of related to the 3.3/3.8 pushrod engine.
They work. They aren't particularly distinguished one way or the other. Replace the pullies, tensioner, and water pump when you do a timing belt.
Chrysler mostly stopped making it because Fiat said "woah there, you are making five different V6 engines, pick one and use that one in everything." So they kept the 3.6 and dropped the 3.5/4.0, the 3.8, the 2.7, and the 3.7. Maybe they dropped the 2.7 earlier, it's hard to remember.
