For those of you who don't know, I do some dog rescue work. Eighteen abused Siberian Huskies were removed from a residence in North Texas about a week ago. Those dogs were just released by the court this weekend. We have found at least temporary homes for all but 7 of them. I am taking one to a new home in Tulsa tomorrow. A few more went back east to New York. We need homes for the seven that are left as soon as possible. If we don't get them out of the pound soon they will be put to sleep.
If anybody here has ever wanted a Siberian Husky, this would be a great time to get one. If anybody wants to save the life of one of these dogs, we could use temporary foster homes as well. If you aren't in Texas we can transport.
Ah! i wish i was allowed pets in the dorms! Stupid Air Force....i hope you find them homes, i give monthly to the aspca and volunteer some of my time at the animal shelter on base and i hate it if a dog needs to be put down for any reason.
I wish I could, but out Akita is too old. She at the point where she WILL NOT allow another animal on her territory any more.
I will speak with my apartment manager about what breeds of dog they allow. My girlfriend wants a doggers. How much does transport to GA cost?
I really wish I could take a couple of them off your hand Snowdoggy. Right now though I have 5 dogs, including my detection dog. Only way I could possibly justify it was if I to use one as a replacement for my detection dog that is getting to old to work (he is 12).
Have you put something up on Craigslist yet? They'd go fast.
I wish I weren't so far away. I have a large partially fence back yard that could easily be fully fenced in with some reconfiguration. How do huskies do in the FL heat? I'm pretty sure I'd need a pool to keep them cool, but is there anything else they'd need?
wish I was allowed dogs here... I would love another Siberian. Maybe I will talk to my Father and see if they can take one on the farm

Transport cost to IL? What kind of emotional shape are the dogs in? Would they be ok around rambunctious toddlers?

How old and in what condition (physical and mental) are these dogs? How badly would a Siberian suffer in a humid St. Louis summer?
My brother had a husky for a while and sold it for good money while it was a year or two old. That dog was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to train.
Beautiful dog though. I walked her every day and got compliments everywhere.
If you run out of options contact me, transport to Ohio

I don't want to ask what it will do for $1000.
Here is the story with pictures.

I just drove one up to Oklahoma today and that brings us down to 7 left from the original 18. I have another one placed tomorrow and I will bring one home with me tomorrow night and that will bring us down to 5 left in the shelter that need to get out fast.
Kill them all. The abusive owners, I mean, not the dogs.
I wish we could take one, but there are tmes
when we are out of the house for 17 hour streches.
Maybe we will have kids first to see if we are ready for the responsability.

I asked my apartment manager, she said that Huskys are on the "cannot own list". Unfortunately they are perceived as being aggressive, and rather than be evaluated on an individual basis, they are banned across the board...

I wish I could help but I cannot have anymore dogs at this moment (already have 2 boxers), but I would like to encourage everybody to look over the site that Snowdoggie posted, some truly sad stories......
They also take donations....
