I'm pretty proud of the fact that I can usually do my own taxes. That being said, this year I'm well in over my head.
This year I had a move from one international location to another and it looks like my employer is reporting that as earned income on my W2 (at least, that's what my math says). To make matters worse, I had a work trip in the middle and that got dinged as earned income as well. Normally none of this would be a problem, as I usually can stay pretty well under the foreign earned income exclusion but these two little trips threw me well over that allowance and I'd rather not go in debt to the IRS.
Not knowing what I could deduct, or what income (that was taxed by the Hungarian government) would be given a tax-break, I was wondering if anyone on here had a person who prepared their taxes? and if they wouldnt mind making a recommendation.
I'm looking for an individual as opposed to one of the big chains, as I feel the attention I'd get from an individual would be above that of a chain and that would give me an opportunity to clearly communicate what expenses came from where, why, and when. If they were familiar with expat tax preparation, that would be a big plus.
Thanks guys!

Yes, I do & I can share their info if you want, but they're located in rural IL so I'm not sure how much international knowledge or experience they might have?
I have an EA I can pass you the name of in California. She was really good about everything while I was playing government contractor for a while. The bonus is that the EA allows her to represent you in front of the IRS in the event you get audited.
That would be aweome, thanks! The forum PM goes right to my primary e-mail. If that doesnt work, try Will and Grow and the number "three" (in numerical form). No spaces. at the G with the mail dot com.
Them being someone in the field, I dont think it'll be that big of a deal. It's just over my head (which isn't saying much).
Also: Dear readers of the future? Yeah, I am so so so so so sorry for all the canoes this is going to attract every year between January and April...
SO sorry...
Shoot, Theoretical you posted while I was responding. That would be awesome as well. Thanks guys!
Just sent a screenshot over to my guy to see if he or his firm know anything or could help

Thanks man, let me know what he says.
If you're still in need of a good tax guy, I can recommend the EA we used in NV. I can send over his details if you still need them.
I have a tax lady. She's good and expensive and worth it.

Does she also help with tax planning? Because if so I'm interested in talking to her.
