Change the taste of Bud or Beck's in order to save money? That sounds insane. People drink it because they've decided they like the taste.Changing the taste has been the death of some really big names: Schlitz and PBR to name just two (How big was Stag?) PBR has come back a bit only because they changed again to a taste that's OK and they sell it really cheap.

Yuengling and Shiner are still great.
Far as I can tell the majority of people spend all of their drinkin time with E36 M3 light beers like miller and coors and bud. These people suck and are responsible for crap like this. berkeley them.
I go to ball games at Busch Stadium. Guess what they serve. If you want to walk a while you can get Schlafley.
I used to be a fan of Sam Adams but in the past few years I have found that their brews have been very inconsistent, even when in the same pack. Fortunately the local stores near me have been catering towards the little guys and has given me the chance to try the local stuff.
In reply to MA$$hole:
It has become in companies best interests to offer local brews. Profits.
Back to my original questions: Is it true that South Americans and Chinese prefer weak beer?
...and why hasn't Salinas joined this thread?

Hey now, I like my E36 M3ty cheap beer just as much as I like the microbrews or other "better" beers. Sometimes I want something lighter and refreshing. So what of they may taste like water? I like water. I can drink the beers like water on a weeknight and not get tipsy or have a headache the following morning. I don't buy bud products anyways...however I have found that yuengling light lager is pretty good for stocking the fridge purposes as well as daily drinkability at least for me.
Since someone brought up Michelob, I used to buy it once in a while when it looked like this:
I've tried it recently. No thanks.

Not for another five months you don't.
BURN!
For those who drink X beer Lite, just one in your life, fork over a few extra bucks for a 6-pack of Dogfishhead 60 Minute IPA. Yes, it's way more expensive, but give it a shot. Your mind may be blown.

I'll stick to my Keystone Light. I hate IPA's. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
What he said..I only like some ipas. I've had it straight from the tap at dfh a number of times though, but hardly see it at the grocery store.
Miller high life here tonight!
Maybe a little off topic, but I saw, for the first time ever, a commercial for Coors -- not Coors Light. I was beginning to doubt that such a thing existed.

And I almost brought craft beer to our next play date...

I was just saying to a friend how great it is to be a beer fan today because there are so many interesting choices. A new craft brewery opened this year maybe 5 min from house. Life is good.
Something for everybody.
Never been a fan of Budwieser. I admit that I drank Miller Lite mainly. Now that I have found Yuengling I only drink the other stuff if it isn't available. And Bud only if someone else bought. Thought Becks was good but it's been a while since I've had any so I don't know if it has changed.
Hey all you High brow beer snobs. I know it is inconceivable but some people actually like the taste of light beers.
I used to drink a lot of beer but I've cut back a lot. Choices were usually New Castle, Miller Lite, or Natty Light, depending on the budget. Now if I drink a beer, I make sure it's something locally brewed and supports a small business. The fun thing is trying to find one that I can stomach lol.
It is unfortunate that this is happening though. I have noticed the quality of AB brews going down...although Bud Light has always been some pisswater that college girls drink. Now I stick to some Sailor Jerry's Rum with a splash of coke and a lime if I have a drink, but those are rare occasions.

i'm sorry, but that's a horrible suggestion. sending someone from alco-water like that to a super hoppy IPA is like taking someone who likes to lake canoe and throwing them into a cat 5 rapid in a kayak. they may get there in time, but not like that. not many of the guys i know and hang out with are cheap-light drinkers only, it's usually women who just don't drink beer because they don't know any better and have usually had an experience like i mentioned above. i swear, 78.5% of women think beer either tastes like cheap-light or guinness. i've had pretty good luck with convincing them to try something and if they don't like, i'll drink it and they can get whatever else. I usually look for the best medium wheat or well balanced pale ale option. once they get one of those, even if they decide to not get another of the same, they're open to trying another suggestion based on their feedback because i didn't smack them them over the head with it.

also, i'm no beer snob. cheap-light has it's place for sure.
my valu-beer level has pretty much equalized at classic yuengling lager as well, though i don't usually drink enough at home to need to go with something other than a six of whatever crafts or seasonals are on sale.

Sorry, I felt a high amount of smugness emanating from this thread, I assumed an Apple fanfest was taking place. I have now found much worse... BEER SNOBS ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)
Seriously, when I want to have more than a beer or two, I grab a case of Kokanee, Coors Light, or Budweiser. If I'm feeling really cheap, Black Label for in the garage. You beer snobs keep being beer snobs. Sometimes instead of a steak cooked fresh on the BBQ, I feel like a good ol' BigMac.
Oh yea, and lots of your microbrews suck. Yea, I said it. Everytime I am in the US, I always try whatever is local. Rarely have I been impressed. But this is coming from a guy who likes the occasional Steinlager over a Stella, so take it for what it's worth ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

Why's it gotta be coors light though? That's what I don't get. Why drink that or Miller light when you've got the High Life and Coors Banquet?
Also Whopper > Big Mac ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
Hell, the last thing I bought was some random Shiner because it was on sale, the last thing I drank was Natty berkeleying Ice.
i don't drink beer, but i read it because i work for a company that makes packaging machines for a couple of beverage companies... i don't really care about what they do to beers- but it said in the article that they might have their eyes on Pepsi.. they better not wreck my Pepsi Throwback..
