I have owned one V8 car, a '76 Camaro LT Type w/ 305 while in high school. It produced 140hp
'88 MR2 SC produced 145hp.
'97 240sx had 155hp
'95 Volvo 850 NA was 168hp
'87 BMW 325is at 168hp
The biggest I had was a V6 Astro with 190hp.
I am okay with it
I also haven't owned a motorcycle with over 100hp, what is wrong with me?
After going from a 350Z to an RX-8, I can only feel that the 230hp RX-8 is barely adequate.
Soo.. highest HP - 350Z w 305hp
Lightest - 96 Jetta - 2650
Heaviest - 350Z - 3350 lbs
I decided never to buy a car with less than 200HP again. It lasted about 6 months. Ah well.
None of our cars are what I'd call fun, but they all have decent horsepower and torque...
- Odyssey 255 HP / 250 LB-FT
- RAV4 269 HP / 246 LB-FT
- RAM 345 HP / 375 LB-FT
I prefer torque. Whenever my Camry gets me feeling down, I pull the Olds out for a drive. Nothing makes me smile like 400+ lb/ft.

The length of your hootus isn't proportional to the HP of your car anyway, so don't sweat it !
Oh my. This will be a shock.
Maybe it indicates no hootus?
200hp MX3, 400hp truck
my most powerful car was an Saab GM900 with all of 185 hp.. most of my cars barely break 100hp and the DD BMW only has 140

I'm running out of room to keep my trend going.
First car - 1989 Mercury Tracer - 82hp
91 Sentra SE-R - 140hp
98 328i - 189hp
93 Miata - slight diversion at 116hp
02 S2000 - 240hp
05 V70R - 300hp
My old Lada 2105 had a whoppin 58-horsepower!
(but of the cars I miss the most it comes in at a close second )
although I did have a Derbi GPR 50 that had 8.8 horsepower I think that may rival most brigs and stratton mowers!
Lowest: 1964 VW Notchback 1500S - 53hp
Highest: 1965 Caddy - 340hp
Best power to weight ratio: 1977 Rabbit 2.0L 16v w/ITB's and nitrous - 1,800 lbs and 165hp (w/o the nitrous)
Or possibly the bike. 1971 CB750K1 with a 1975 CB750F engine, cafe style.
Most I've had is my truck. 340 HP, but it's toting around 8000#. My 540i6 wasn't bad - 300HP, but still not a light car. Fastest car I've had was my Civic. 215 at the wheels equates to probably 270 @ the crank, and the car was a tick under a ton. That car was silly fast. I have visions of 500HP for my Mustang. We'll see.
I've only owned a couple cars with LESS than 155 hp. :)
The '99 Miata was 138 when stock, and my first car was a hand-me-down '87 Taurus with the 3.0L Vulcan motor. I'm not sure how much power it made, but apparently the '91 spec was upgraded to 140, and the one I owned had 130K miles and was way down on power. I'd guess maybe 90 when I owned it.
Currently, I've got 340 in the Audi, 300 in the truck, about 300 in the Miata (270 at the wheels), and 250 in the Odyssey.
I've never owned a car or truck with a v8. Driven plenty, but never owned one.
Largest engine to date I have owned is a 225 buick oddfire v8. I think 160-170 horse and all of 3.7 liters.
Lowest: Probably a tie between a Fiat 850 and a Mercedes 220 Diesel (~40ish?)
Lowest routinely daily driven: 1982 VW Rabbit (~75ish)
Highest routinely daily driven: Tie between my 2002 Corvette (~355 stock and she ain't stock!) and my 1990 TSi AWD (Ran quartermile times consistent to a 425ish HP car, never dynod) and my 1996 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel (Maxed/errored the only dyno I put it on, lots of smoke, noise, and torque)
Nowadays, my 275 horse + 550 ft/lbs Powerstroke is a slow turd. A slow, comfortable, reliable turd.
83 RX-7 was 110 I think.
97 E-150 was 250ish. It also weighed 6800 pounds.
The Wife's Venture is around 190.
The Super Coupe is 210, but has 310 ft/lb of torque to go with it.
The Abomination is probably putting out around 140-150. But it's light so a little bit goes a long way...quickly.
There have been a bunch under 100, 81 Corolla Wagon, 79 Pinto, 83 Nissan Stanza off the top of my head.
The lightest is going to be the Abomination. It's around 1700 pounds.
On the heavy side we have a front end loader I drove for a couple of months that probably tipped the scales at over 15 tons. That thing was a beast. On the street? That would be a 65' crane truck I ran one summer during high school.
The fastest in a straight line is going to be a 93 RX-7 just off the dyno at 740 HP. That car was unbelievable. In third gear at 4500 rpms it would bottom the rear suspension if you matted the go pedal. My mind was blown. On the down side, below 4000 rpms it wouldn't out run my push lawn mower.
The fastest around the bends is the Abomination. It's insane. I have never gotten out of that car without a huge grin on my face.
Lowest is either one of my E21's +- 100 hp
Highest could be one of three different cars 2005 Grand Prix (260 hp 280 ft lbs?) 1996 Impala SS (260 hp? ???ft lbs) or my 1979 Trans am with a built 403 olds engine ( low 12's in the quarter on the bottle).
I'm pretty sure the '97 F150 4.6 I've just gotten is the highest hp vehicle I've ever owned .... the Integra = 142 ( at the flywheel) nothing else comes close ... 'cept the '64 E type 3.8 .. the intewebzs says 265 hp .. the ford only 220 ... all the rest of the cars I've owned are in the 100 range ( the mid '60s Chevy 292 6 pu = ~ 165) had a '62 Ford 9 passenger wagon 390 w/4brl and a '75 Chevy 9 passenger 396 .... don't have any idea what their hp ratings were
least was probably a toss up between my '76 Civic 53 hp and my '60 Simca 49 hp ....
I've owned more than 2 dozen cars/trucks/motorcycles in almost 45 years of driving, and only 2...yes just 2 had V8 engines. About 5 or 6 had inline 6 cylinder engines, and the rest were 4 cylinder powered. Most powerful? A '68 Mercury Cyclone, my first car. Least powerful? Not sure, but suspect it was the '72 Spitfire, or maybe the 914 1.8 liter.
i have all v8's except a 190hp 4.3 v6. v8 rumble is good, and lsx power is like crack
i prefer my v8's but would love to own a wrx someday.
My recent vehicles (last 10 years or so):
1996 Previa SC 160 hp ? torque
2003 Express 300hp 360 ft lbs
1999 323i 160-180hp?
2002 WRX (wifes) >220hp
2003 WRX (wifes) >220hp
1997 328i 190hp
1999 Land Rover Discovery 190hp 250 ft lbs
1991 Miata (wifes) 100hp
1991 Challenge Miata ~190hp?
1992 Lexus SC400 250hp
Prior to that it was all low hp. Sentra SE-R, 12a powered RX-7's, a couple of CRXs and Civics, and the wife's Saturn. The exceptions were an E28 535i and a TII.
The fastest vehicles i've driven were a buddies 400hp V8 FC, a rental Viper, and an older sportbike. The hardest I've ever driven a quick car was a track day in the challenge Miata. I WILL build my 1000 hp FC one day just to experience sub 10 second 1/4 miles and roll on throttle wheelspin at 80mph.
I've experienced 800hp on the street.
I'm okay with 200-300.
(note: add up both of my cars and they might be 300. The quickest car I've ever had could run a 13.9.)
first car had 62hp... most powerful is the 190hp astro... my volvo is prob a bit over that when i've got the boost turned up a smidge (larger turbo, intake, boost controller and enough fuel and tuning for more power
I've also never really owned cars/trucks with high hp or what you would consider fast. The fastest is probably the RX8 I currently own or my wife's 2010 Hyundai Sonata w/V6. Highest hp is probably my 95 F150 w/5.8 V8. Lowest hp? Well if Pinto's are less than 100hp then probably one of the two I've had. 1 had the 1.6, the other had the 2.0. Had a 65 Chevelle with the small I6, it was very slow. The Pintos were faster. How much hp does the old Datsun 1.6 have? Had a 69 510 wagon in high school before the Chevelle. The Datsun was also faster than the Chevelle. Also had an 82 Sentra and a 87 Renault Alliance (wifes). My Opel GT's engine is rated at a whopping 102hp stock. Have a 63 Midget in the garage but it's in pieces and not complete so it doesn't really count. I think the original 1098 was rated at <60hp. The 1275 that I plan on putting in it will have maybe 80hp.
Driven bigger and faster, just never owned one.
Somewhere around 240HP for me. Not sure what the WRX made after the exhaust, they've been known to make 15 or so HP out of a good catback if you let the ECU adjust itself right. Otherwise it was the S2K.
