When I travel for pleasure, I carry a MacBook with me, but mostly all I use it for is email and browsing.

Crazy idea... since most hotel TVs have a/v (and some have HDMI) inputs...

Add the appropriate video out adapter to my iPhone 4s, add a BlueTooth keyboard and mouse, and do my browsing and email on the hotel TV.

What say the hive mind about this idea?

Plausible, provided the adapter allows full functionality. Some I have seen only allow simplified music/video playback.

Edit, this experience comes from having a TV with an iPod dock and built in apple friendly software. Apps are a no-go. Your results may very.

I think people have done it with iPads. Worth a try at home before you head out on the road.

I keep trying. I've rarely been able to hook up to a hotel TV. Some of them are lobotomized. One was super-fancy wired up for external output but the TV had a bad input, and the high-dollar hotel couldn't manage to fix it. Sometimes I forget the stupid adapter. I think I've managed to do it once.
