Get out the tin foil hats boys.
I live too close to an international Airport that is also an airforce base AND a major research centre for the FAA.. as in less than 5 miles from one of the runways (that do not face towards where I live) so no drones here
Apparently no one here knows about the government mapping agency. Ill keep my trap shut, but I'd be more worried about them if I had something to worry about.
I know they have one here, because it hit the paper. Although "surveillance drone" sounds a whole lot creepier than "RC helicopter with a camera on it", which is what the thing looks like. It's sure not going to creep up on you.

Probably owned by the local import/export businesses so they can keep an eye on Johnny Law .

I am proud to be the first to welcome you to the governments terrorism watch list.
I'm guessing my "New federal drone legislation" popped up briefly at the ATL fusion center. Aaahhh E36 M3. Now I said "ATL fusion center." You're all berkeleyed now!

Lol
You know that map shows drones not surveillance drones. There is a difference. A drone simply means an unmanned aircraft of a certain size. Those universities have UAVs for automated flight research not surveillance but no need to bring up facts.
Regarding the UAVs at colleges:
Several major colleges offer courses in UAV piloting because flying an unmanned aircraft is a completely different experience due to the lack of feed back. There are also several that offer majors in it.
ERAU offered a similar course while I was there.
There was also a competition where we built a small one that would run a search pattern for specific objects.
