Not going to look for it cause I am lazy and no longer have super easy access to actuarial tables. But they are more dangerous when you combine the likelihood and impact of a bite and the chances of a lawsuit. The insurance companies don't just make this up; if they did they would not be paying actuaries extremely good money to actually figure this stuff out and would just say "people who like pit bulls and scions are more dangerous than people who like chihuahuas and camrys" and charge jerry more than that girl who drives a Camry and has a chihuahua

When I was about 12 or 13, I witnessed my cousin, same age as me, getting mauled by a German Shepherd. Over 200 stitches. I kicked the dog in the ribs to stop the assault. The family who owned the dog had a toddler, and the older kids watched in terror as their favorite pet shredded my cousin's arm and torso.

I love most dogs, but I'm leery of some breeds.

When I was about 10 I was attacked by a German Shepherd as well. And yet I keep them as pets now. It's not the breed, its the individual dog.

I've seen pitbulls at their worst, I used to help rehab fighting dogs. And ones that have been taught to fight I will always have some trepidation about, but not for my own safety, just for that of other dogs. Fighting dogs are usually trained to be extremely submissive to their people and even if one did turn on me I still have a good 150 lbs on them and can bring them down safely. I had to get in the middle of some fights when working with rehab dogs, it was really never an issue to be able to wrap a dog up and pin it until it submitted. My girlfriend at the time, who was much smaller had no issue being able to do the same either.

Come on, we don't like facts. We like anecdotal case studies or "personal experience."
