So our lab just turned 3 and has been licking his left paw for a few days. We noticed a red spot between his toes so we called for an appointment but they can't get him in until July 10th. We noticed this morning he has these little spots on his foot pads now and has gotten us more worried Anyone seen this in their dog?
I can never be certain when looking at a picture, but that looks like a dog that's been on pavement.
I typed in a further comment, and the screen glitched out, and I lost the whole thing. I'll try again.
That looks to me like normal wear for a dog that is normally not spending a lot of time on abrasive surfaces, like pavement or beach, sand, etc. Then the dog gets to run or do a lot of walking on that type of surface and the pads get worn.
The most important question is whether the dog is painful. Is he limping?

Thanks Doc, no he isn't showing any signs of being in pain and he still runs around the yard fine. It has been fairly warm lately and my wife has taken him on a few walks around on the pavement. We also have a pool with concrete that he loves to swim and hang out at.
Pool decks are designed to be non slip, and of course pavement is going to wear the pads.

Ok, maybe we are just thinking the worst. Looking at stuff on the internet I was thinking the like an autoimmune issue. Thanks so much for the quick reply
Try another Vet, why suffer?

All of the pads look like this, but he's only licking the one paw?
I would look closely for any cuts, ticks, thorns, or burrs in between the toes on that paw.

This. Our German Shepherd manages to get something wedged between his toes on a fairly regular basis. She will then lick that foot incessantly trying to get it out.
We are on standby at another vet for cancellations to get in. Never would have thought they would be so busy. Just his front two paws are like this but he has a small red patch between his toes on the one foot he licks a lot.
I don't walk my dogs on the street if it's sunny during the summer. AM & Evenings are usually fine. If the pavement is too hot for our bare feet, it's probably too hot for your pup. I'm lucky enough to have a fenced-in yard, so mine do get plenty of exercise eachother around.

Could be a hot spot or corn. We've had greyhounds and they get them often. Our current Saluki has a hot spot that returns on occasion on the top of one of his paws.
