Those procedures work for us and we have found homes for hundreds of dogs that way. And if people would rather go to a puppy mill than fill out an application, there isn't anything I can really do about it.
At any rate. Good luck with your new pups.
I politely disagree that there isn't something you can do about it but I'll save the speech for when I have a better idea to implement - and thanks. Good luck finding homes for your pooches too. If no one cared to rescue them - I suppose I couldn't bitch about them hoarding them to themselves
If you have any good suggestions on how I can adopt out some of these doggies, let me know. I have an 89 pound Malamusky here who needs a home badly. People don't want the big ones.
My wife has just spent the last year looking "for the big ones". Her dog was 100lbs and she thought she was perfect in size. THe new one will be 100-120.
^^^this guy has much shepherd-mix want. Nice work Bob.

She's 7 months old, 70lbs and a complete teddy bear.
I want your dog, so cute.
The wife and I are set on getting a rescue GSD longhair for the next dog. .

In any case - Meet my two new buddies - they were from the same litter, starved and dehydrated, brought back and passed on to me from someone who didn't have their panties in a wad or a chip on their shoulder. They just wanted a good home for two dogs and they found one.
I'm stoked.
Congrats. Those are fine looking dogs. An ex girlfriend has one like them. It can entertain itself for hours tormenting the chipmunks in the firewood stack.
Good lord those are Rat Terriers.
Welcome to the Ratty Club GPS.

Yes, yes they are.
My last buddy of 15 years was a Smooth Fox, have had Rat, Jack Russell mixes and so on going back to my grandfather raising them as small game hunters. I do love me some tenacious, fun loving shiny happy person dogs. Never had two puppies before simultaneously - but it's double the fun, right? Right? Oh man... what have I gotten myself in to
@ snowdoggie...
If you ever need any help on the Fort Worth side of the metromess, let me know. Couldn't have said anything you did any better. We've done rescue on and off for the past 12+ years.

Rat Terriers are a unique dog. They are very vocal. They have interesting personalities. I know. I've had mine for 7 years and he is extremely intelligent.
Not to zombie an old thread...
BUT SWEET TAPDANCING LITTLE BABY JESUS!!!
A coworker is on the phone RIGHT NOW with a CAT adoption agency (why in the hell wouldnt you just go to the effing humane society/SPCA shelter to get a damned cat...theyre almost as plentiful as squirrels around here...), going through their questionnaire...WHAT THE BERK???
How deep into your life do they have to dig? Im so aggravated by that Im literally shaking, and they werent even on the phone with me...damn thats annoying...STFU or GTFO
/rant
Cats are free at the humane society here. When money is tight I grab a few to feed my dogs.
I rescued mine from the Follensbee, WV shelter. They operate with almost zero funds, work really hard to place dogs, and don't have the BS that typical no-kill and breed-specific places have. They love dogs and do their best and my dog is awesome:
Typical Pit/Lab mix with tons of energy, playful, friendly and loves to cuddle and sleep.

It's no better with the humane society here in my county. You pay a fortune, go through a background investigation worthy of the FBI, are subject to eternal random inspections, and they can and do randomly seize pets years later if they decide you are no longer worthy.
All while taking government funds, being deputized and badged, and diverting government funds to PETA, HSUS and the like.
whats more annoying is shes acting like its an epic, earth shattering moment in her life...I mean, I know pet ownership takes commitment and you need to be a responsible person to do a good job at it and all that jazz...but damn, its not like shes gonna end up with a little Korean infant when this is all over!!! ITS A FREAKING TABBYCAT...WHO THE BERK CARES!?!?!?!?!

hey, some people are really into their cats. My girlfriend, for one. Luckily one is enough for her.
Two more days until the pooches arrive... As soon as they show up healthy and as advertised I'll let you guys in on the source. That way you can embiggen yourselves by saving hassle-free rescue pooches and Bob Costas.
Before the grammar nazis set upon me - embiggen is a cromulent word.
I'm really into my cat. I got her from a "rescue" but the application process was simple. Question one: do you have money for the adoption fee? Yes. Good to go. She was there for almost a year when we got her, very antisocial toward other cats but she has a great personality.
(Sorry for the increased cat content)
Dont get me wrong, I love cats...had a bunch of em as a kid. I think they make great pets.

Not me, but some people.
