I agree with your apparent distrust of that comment. It's pretty weird.
But there is a whole lot more to that article, and I certainly wouldn't focus on one oddball comment.
By doing so, you essentially negate the entire article by suggesting it is questionably written.
I think there is a lot of drama and hype in that article, but also that it raises some very interesting points.
And the most significant points in it (like the unholy lovefest between politics, business, and the media, or the weakness of both parties to engage out of fear) are both true, and very important.
I hate this thread! It keeps popping up, and it's entirely wrong!!!!
Donald Trumps hair isn't frizzy at all! Its just a huge tsunami of a comb over! That's it, but I have to keep seeing this inaccurate thread title pop up again and again. I'm going to have to leave the forum now until this thread dies...

Of course that’s true however, Reagan totally destroyed Mondale in his second term election bid carrying a record shattering 48 states! That gave the republicans the momentum necessary to stave off the inevitable decline in popularity that occurs the longer a party holds the office.
Going all the way back to the beginning of our two party system in 1856, the average decline between an incumbents second term victory and the nearly assured defeat of their same party contender in the following election is 9.2%.
Additionally, the lowest percent victory by a second term president that didn’t result in the party changing hands in the following election was 4.5% (Ulysses Grant –in 1868).
Obama only got a 2.9% victory over Romney in 2012.
Let that sink in…if you use the long term average, the democrats are likely to lose by 6.2% and if you cherry pick the most optimistic election ever on record, the democrats are likely to lose by 1.6%.
Anything is possible, I'm just saying that if Hillary pulls off a victory, it will be a truly remarkable event from a purely statistical prospective.

I also don't believe the word "hair" is accurate. In person it appears to be more like fine strands of copper wires.

Ok, whatever floats your comb-over.

That is kind of my point though. A rather absurd comment in an article does make me tune out the entire article, which, as you stated, is likely unfortunate.
It's a bit like when I was listening to Jessie Ventura being interviewed. I was thinking "OK, this could be interesting, he has some interesting angles on things and seems like a reasonably smart guy". At one point he talks about how he talked to a general about how thing are being kept from the public and made the statement "do realize how fast you could fly from New York to Los Angeles if you didn't have to worry about gravity"...
(that's a whole bunch of stupid wrapped up in one comment there)
...at that point I was "Uhm... yeah... OK then" and basically disregarding anything else he had to say.

(philosophy mode on)
Much like the Donald himself though, his hair was only really alive for but a short time.
It now, in silent vigil, only serves as a thin veil to disguise the horror that lies beneath.
(philosophy mode off)

That reminds me of the moron politician that thought some island (Guam perhaps) would tip over if you placed too much equipment on it.
How could someone bother listening to anything else he says after dropping that nugget of brilliance?
Added Later...

Come on man, Mondale was a total badass:
Actually, he looks OK in this still photograph…it was the footage of him flopping around like a ragdoll while the tank was moving that did him in.

To be fair, most of his constituents have similar critical thinking skills.

That the one proud GOP has been reduced to this....
he's talking about a problem that is not really a problem. Illegal Immigration is down compared to years ago (no jobs) and we are deporting them back in higher numbers than ever. Trump is just pandering to the lowest common base of the GOP..
And the GOP can't get rid of him. He has threatened to go Independent if they censure him.. so he could wind up doing to the Republicans like Nader did to the Democrats in 2000.
As somebody who has worked for him and seen what his business dealings are like.. he thrives on being in the spotlight. He will say anything and do anything to remain in the spotlight. If this country is not already close to rockbottom, he would completely run it into the ground if he got elected.
I blame him for singlehandedly destroying the Casino industry in Atlantic City. He is the one that pushed to have more than three casinos, he is the one that pushed to eliminate entertainment, he pushed hard to keep the Atlantic City Expressway from reaching the Marina District (he thankfully lost that fight) and he is one of the main reasons Steve Wynn pulled out and will now not open the MGM/Mirage in AC.
Trump is a spoiled media whore and a bully.. exactly what you do -not- want as president

He also played a large part in killing the USFL, or at least accelerating it's death.

I think that's why he is so popular. I don't think he's the answer, but I also think the answer needs to be a true American Patriot, not a politician. Unfortunately, no one like that is currently a candidate. One thing is for sure. He wouldn't be at the top of the polls if people weren't looking for something different.
