Don't quote canoes!

Guys, canoe-bots (or sometimes "real" people being paid to do the work of a bot - how humiliating must that be?) don't post here because they hope we click on their links. They post here for one reason alone - to increase their page rank on google, which is directly dependent on how many links they can spam around.

If you absolutely, positively, must quote one, for the love of beer & wine do not include their link in your quote.

Of course better to just ignore them and let them wither away until someone who responds to the [!] button you hopefully clicked comes along and excises them with the surgical laser.

Also, once a post has been commented on as a PWC, the powers that be have been alerted. There is no reason to repeat the obvious.

That's over simplification but yeah, don't give them any more links.

I've been holding off saying anything, waiting for the GRM Powers That Be to say what they would prefer as a response. Since they haven't, I'll offer my opinion. Take all of this as personal opinion, and nothing more.

As someone who has been allowed to kill canoes, I LIKE having people respond using "canoe" as a way to attract my attention to offending threads and posts. I don't care much for the use of "!".....I haven't figured out how to search for posts that have been flagged with "!".

The best way to let me know, though, is probably to shoot me a PM that includes the offending link and the name of the thread.

I suppose if that amuses you.....I do a fair bit of my GRM browsing - and canoe sinking - from a kindle DX with the images turned off, though....hotlinking won't help me find the offending posts.
