Yeah, that's mine.
It had been sitting on the moving dolly (hand-truck, whatever) for about a year now, because I haven't gotten around to building a bench for it. It seemed secure; the thing was about 9 inches off the ground. Well some time last night, I guess one of the dolly wheels lost enough air to allow the bench top the lathe is bolted to, to slide off. The lathe is top heavy enough that it flipped itself upside down.
When I first saw it, I was baffled as to how it got that way. I thought someone must have broken in and tried to steal it, and then flipped it over when they realized it was too heavy to carry. But no, it was just physics.
That sucks. Stupid gravity...
Gravity isn't just a good idea, it's the law.

You've upset the workshop gods. Quick, invite a bunch of buddies over and serve them beer. Then watch as everyone helps build a work bench for it and lifts it together on to it's new home. The workshop gods rejoice!

Mine turned turtle coming out of the back of my pickup.
Hopefully nothing is broke..
Good luck.

Bent cross slide lead screw.
But it's just an Atlas so it won't affect accuracy :-p
That sucks. Be glad you weren't there. You would have tried to catch it. Then we'd be having another hospital thread.

You're right about the bent cross-slide lead screw, but it's only bent where the handle fits on so it may be fixable. And there are parts on Ebay. But I'm insulted by you calling it an Atlas! It's a Logan 10". Much better than an Atlas.

A good source for Logan lathe parts.
I have one myself, 6 X 24, made sometime in the late 60's.
