So, I looked up some reviews for 1sale.com. It seems like they're a hassle to deal with, and are slow to ship. Amazon has the same camera for $38.
Santa brought me a polaroid XS80. seems decent at $90 and came with a helmet mount. http://www.target.com/p/polaroid-xs80-hd-1080p-waterproof-sports-action-video-camcorder/-/A-14754675
I saw a couple of YouTube videos that showed the video quality and it seems like it's on par with a 720p gopro1. I ordered two so we'll see when they get here.
Here is a comparison video: http://youtu.be/d6ttdmC_-iM
I think the camera's placement may berkeley up the test a little.
I like my GoPro, but have seen many very good substitutes.
And here I am buying a 2nd Hero2 from a friend that bought it on an auction site (Auctionzoom or something) unopened for $80. (Now I need another wifi backpack because I love being able to sit at the starting line and just press a button on the wrist remote.)
So what your saying is, I should probably just throw the Sony Hi-8 that I used a half-dozen times in the berkeleying garbage. Smart investment there, dumbass (me.)
how about a gopro knock-off for just under $200?? MonoPrice dot com
Anyone have any experience on these?
Ordered! I have also used 1sale before with great luck. They aren't amazon fast but they are good enough. I actually bought my wife a tablet on there like a month ago. Sweet deal.
Yeah, I got myself a Hero 3+ Black for Christmas, and can't believe I've gone this long without one. The $100-off coupon from the PRI show made the purchase much, much easier to stomach. We have original GoPros still hanging around the office, and Alan's just took a 110-mph tumble and still works fine.
My advice? Just suck it up and pay the $300. They last forever, everyone makes mounts for them, and they are really, really good.
I have a VIRB ELITE on the way. I have a couple hero2 cameras. But the Virb. It has built in GPS orfor displaying speed, ect.
i have a couple gopro hero2's that i use on my seadoos and on my truck offroad, but i've also got a flip mino that takes great video in HD if you don't need the waterproof feature of the gopro. on the plus side it mounts to a standard tripod screw-on too.
I bought a couple NR16s from ebay. Size of a keyfob, three lenses, good quality HD, and usually $69 shipped from China.
search for "eletoponline365" on ebay he is the only dealer of the actual camera.
Then search for Techmoan on youtube. He does a lot of reviews on these things and has side-by-side comparos of several Keychain cameras. The NR16 does almost as well as the Go Pro, but its the size of a key fob. I have two. Brilliant.
