So I had requested a few days ago my driveway be seal-coated by a national chain. I agreed to their quoted price via email but had not paid them yet. This same company and crew have done several other homes in my neighborhood the past few years and they always seem to have done a good job. The local rep emailed me yesterday (Friday) morning in response to my email to him about predicted rain in the forecast this morning (Saturday). He stated they would be “doing driveways” all day despite the forecast. The rep did not specifically tell me a crew would actually be doing mine yesterday. Being he didn’t tell me they would actually be doing my driveway yesterday, I assumed they would be out Monday or Tuesday. Yesterday I was at work and did not get home until after dark. Mrs drainoil arrived home last night and told me they did seal-coat our driveway (and it looked good).
We figured they finished the job around 530-6pm. No rain all night but about 730 this morning it started pouring really good, and lasted a few hours off and on. I looked on the chains website faq’s and although they cover several common questions, nothing addresses rainfall. I looked at other seal coating company websites and most have stated no rain within 24 hours of application. In my case it was 12-13 hours before the rain fell. Looking at the driveway now (about 710 pm here), it still looks good and doesn’t appear anything has washed away. Do I have anything to worry about due to the rainfall? Fwiw, I have not yet paid them despite asking them (before they did the job) how they prefer to get paid, and still haven’t received an answer yet.
