Ok...we've all heard the bitch about the Iphone 4 antenna issue. So, just had to laugh at this
Preordered mine last week, after canceling the Incredible I had on backorder (wouldn't have been delivered till the 16th)!
The 1GHz processor is made by Texas Instruments, and from what early reviews are saying, is much better at power management than the Snapdragon (almost twice the life on a similar sized battery than the similar EVO 4G). I think Motorola builds a better phone than HTC does, anyway.
I'm stoked. I wasn't a huge fan of the Incredible (I see the camera getting scratched quickly) anyway, but as it was the latest and greatest up until last week, it was the one.
My g/f is nutz over wanting a Droid right now... she was the same way about the Chocolate some years ago... She seems to spend all her free time browsing the Droid forums... I'm considering one as well, although partly because I'd like to have a mobile WiFi set-up for internet when I'm not at work or home.
The Iphone 4 does not actually loose the signal or drop the calls if held with a death grip, it has to do with an error in how the signal strength is determined. You can cause any cell phone to display a non actual loss of signal if you hold it a certain way. The people perpetuating this myth are just haters of the best phone on the planet.
my first cell phone was a motorola brick from the early 2000s, i could leave that phone off the charger for like a week, my new HTC Hero can't go like 7 hours without being charged, then the touch screen stops working, and it's been at the service center for two weeks while I have an LG Rumor2 as a loaner phone. My Droid experience? It's blah, cooler than any other phone I've had, but also more problems than any other phone I've had. Def better than iPhone though.

So when that "signal determination error" occurs can you still place a call?

Yes, people have done this "trick" while on a call they could not get the call to drop no matter how they held it. Its just haters spreading bogosity.
My iPhone 4 makes calls anywhere, regardless of how I hold it. I just don't see the big issue. The competition just makes phones more and more awesome every day. Pretty soon, they will be able to toast bagels!

Battery life you say? Hmmm, I'll have to check out the Verizon network and company discount in my area. Battery life on the new phone's is so sucky.
"Hey the battery lasts a long time! As long as you don't use any of the features you purchased it for!!!"
The other half and I were basically dead set on an EVO 4g and ditching our older iPhone 3G (not the S). But with this phone out now, were wondering if we shouldn't wait a few more months and see what else comes out.
I found it bogus that there were two new phones coming out in the next week or two (or three) like the Incredible or DroidX, but my antique Treo called it quits over the weekend and I really couldn't wait for the next big things to become widely available. I got a Droid and so far, so good. Hope it lasts as long as the old Treo did.
My mobile phone makes/recieves calls, sends/recieves texts, and for some reason has a built in camera, FM radio, and MP3 player. It already does more than I want it to. I suppose some day I'll get a so-called smart phone and get to buy me some apps. There have been a few times where I could've used the internet on the go and it would've been handy to pull out my phone. Maybe I'll get one of these:

Clerk: Okay, it’s $500. You have no choice of carrier. The battery can’t hold a charge, and the reception isn’t very...
Fry: Shut up and take my money!
Seeing that rotary dial phone reminds me of a hunting camp in northern Michigan. They have an old rotary dial pay phone up by the garage. 5-6 years ago I was there with some friends and their sons. One 9-10 year old wants to call home so dad tells him where the phone is and gives him some change. The kid looks dumb founded at the money and we laugh and explain that it takes money to make a call. 5 minutes later he is back claiming the phone is broken. It is assumed that he couldn't figure out the money part but he says that when he pushed the numbers nothing happened. That kid still talks about the neat old phone that has to be twisted to work.

Not according to friends of mine who own them. They are not happy about it at all.

supposedly, if you are already on a call, it won't drop, but if it thinks there is no signal, then it won't let you make a call. or something.
In reply to SupraWes: If it's "bogosity," then why is the MANUFACTURER saying there's a problem, issuing a fix, and promising a software upgrade later this summer? This is good PR????? Gimme a break. They screwed up,
It could be sold and not actually make phone calls at all. It could have a 50% probability of exploding in your hand. It could eat children for battery life, and there would still be people proclaiming it to be the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
not sure if this has been posted in any other iphone threads. not really sfw due to language... http://www.break.com/index/iphone-4-vs-htc-evo.html
In reply to WilberM3: I tried the link, got to GIZMODO, article appears for 5 seconds then, poof, gone. I clicked on their review of the IP4, and the same happened. My computer/server or the site??
