I'm heading to Duluth next week for work, anything worth doing or checking out while I'm there? (Besides browsing CL for all the cool/old/weird cars I can't afford.)

You're welcome to stop by the DIYAutoTune.com shop if you're able to during normal business hours. (Shameless plug, but we do have a couple project cars and such around.) Or we could meet up for lunch sometime.

You can have lunch with Fit_is_Slo (Froggy) and myself! Im about 10 minutes from there. Froggy works for Lexus of Duluth, so he's in town. Not much in Duluth, lots of Koreans and dealerships....

Not that far from Road Atlanta . Alternatively you could take a trip over to Alpharetta one night after work and hit up Andretti Speed Lab. If you want to do the touristy thing you can go down to the Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park. Other than that I'm working on my Fiat and XR4 next week

I was gonna say- Duke is in that area, and he could probably take you on a tour of all the awesome crap he finds on CL on a regular basis.

You got a deal, Duke. I'd gladly pay you $5 to not have to drive in Atl, and I'm sure that's way cheaper than a cab!

Drive north on Buford Hwy, purely for the shock of realizing that you can easily go 5 miles without seeing a single sign in English. Try not to hit the inevitable woman walking across the 4-lane highway in traffic carrying a baby. Don't get shot. Try not to pick up Tuberculosis. That's about all I've got.

Well I made it here just ahead of the snow/ice. So much for warm southern weather. Then again 32 feels almost balmy compared to the -7 when I left IL this morning.

So I'm thinking with the X-ice tires on my car I should just skip my training class tomorrow(wouldn't be surprised if it's cancelled/delayed) and make some $$$ as a taxi service tomorrow. :D

I probably will be too. They're predicting 1/4" to 1/2" of solid ice on the roads south of I-20. Not going anywhere if that happens.

Yeah, they canceled class. So I thought "OK, at least I can go walk around the mall for a while." Then they just announced all the malls were closed.

I think I'm going to drive over to the company that hosts the training and(if they're open) offer to help them out, just to get out of the hotel for a while.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand this is VERY extreme weather for down here, and I think it's great that the city as a whole has decided to shut down vs. try to muddle through something that most people aren't prepared for. I'm just bored.

Hey, but if anyone up on this side of town needs a lift, or just wants to go slide around for a while, let me know.

Go find a bar, drink heavily, stumble home, people won't be able to tell if you're drunk or slipping on the snow and ice ;)

I'm staying home, got 6" of heavy pack snow down here in Dunwoody, about a half inch of sleet that's turned to ice on top now, and it's supposed to warm just enough tonight to freezing rain, I think I'll be home for a couple days...

Oh, speaking of stumbling down the street, we went to eat at Zaxby's last night(which we'd never heard of before, but it was good), and an actual hobo was walking down the highway outside. Seriously, he had the stick with the bags tied on it, shabby clothes. While I certainly felt bad for the fellow - especially with this weather - I was really just dumbfounded by how much he looked like the old cartoons/Emmet Kelley/etc.
