I know have an iPad courtesy of my employer. So far there are some cool features BUT I can't really see the appeal of the browser. When I surf forums on my laptop, using Firefox for example, I generally preview the forum topics and open discussions that I like in new tabs. Then I scroll through my tabls and read my selections. I can't do this with the iPad as far as I know

That seems dumb. Or I haven't figured it out yet.

Are you talking about using safari?

If so, just hold your finger on the link to the topic you want to read, there will be a pop up and then select "open in new page". It's not as good as tabs, but it sounds like what you are asking.

It's kind of the same as right clicking the "open new tab".

That does it. Even gives me a tab. I may end up liking this thing after all.

A new tab for each thread? Ok, that's a new way to browse I guess....

I don't have an iPad, I use the iPhone. The iPad has tabs, iPhone doesn't. I forgot that.

Count me among the luddites that HATES apple. I just can't work with that OS. I had to use a mac the other day out of desperation and I felt like I was back in grade school with the black and green screen. Damn thing might as well have been in chinese.

It's interesting, now that I actually like my iPhone 5, I wonder if I would like a Mac. OF course I'd never pay for one.

It allows all the pics to load. No waiting.

Try it. You may like it. Easy to do with the right click on a mouse.

In reply to mndsm:

I have had iPhones since they were concieved. I do not care for the Android OS. It's confusing and poorly laid out. At least with the few phones I have had the pleasure using.

Yep. With Firefox I just press the scroll-wheel on each thread topic that interests me, they all pop into tabs, and I can read the first one as the others are loading. When I'm done with each one, I press the scroll-wheel on the tab and it goes away. I thought everyone did this.

I didn't know about the scroll wheel trick. I will try that.

nope... been doing that since the late 90's with dial up and Opera (first browser that I know of that had tabs... back in the day it would make it so I could read though a page and then click to the next thing and then go over to the next to read though that... never had to wait for the page to buffer that way...

these days I still do it if I see several things I want to read but might walk away from the pc for a bit... I'll close the tab once I've read it and it doesn't get lost 2 or 3 pages in.

You'll need to log in to post.
