Not that i condone this activity but two things catch my attention.
Driver is 17 yrs old but yet he, one, still does a good job of drving a manual transmission truck and, two, managaes to drive in reverse rather well.

Stow police videos catch crashes during 52-mile chase of stolen vehicle

This may have been one of the most confusing headlines I've ever had to parse (it helps once you realize "Stow" is a place-name).

I was impressed on his choice of vehicle myself, as well as the foresight to have bricks in the cab to huck at the cops. ( Not that I support running from the law in any way- but if you're going to do it, do it right)

That is certainly pit maneuver proof. With a little forethought he could have kept that up all day. The open road was the boring choice.

I have always wanted to run from the police. I think it would be a riot and a huge challenge.

Only problem is the possibility of hurting civilians, officers, and myself. Oh and the years in prison.

Just tell them that your last name is France....seems to work for them.

I always said- if I was every gonna steal a car, it was going to be a cop car. I just wanna hit the lights and sirens while the lights and sirens are chasing me.

Besides, in Spec Cop Car, it's all down to the drivers, right?

He can definitely drive, though I'm not sure he'll ever get the chance again after ramming so many cops. He's lucky he didn't get shot.

Quite a video. If there's a lesson to be learned, if you want an epic chase (in either the movies or real life), don't pay attention to how fast your getaway car is, go for unstoppable.

for 52 miles, they couldn't position a spike strip? or get a solid slug shotgun into position to disable the block?

Last paragraphs of the article posted above:

...several Stow police vehicles stayed in pursuit the whole time. Since the truck could not reach high speeds, the pursuit was considered ''reasonable and under control,'' Dirker said. Stop sticks were used throughout the pursuit, but the tires were most likely too large for them to work, he said. ''If the guy was driving very recklessly in a souped-up car and we couldn't keep up, we might have been forced to call off the pursuit,'' Dirker said. A roadblock was never considered because they are very dangerous and could result in more injury, Dirker said. Police said the top speed in the pursuit was 74 miles per hour. Dirker said no shots were fired during the chase. ''We do not shoot at moving vehicles and especially not in a crowded intersection,'' he said.

In reply to jrw1621:

That happened near where I live and on roads I routinely use. I hadn't seen the video - Thanks for posting it. I think they might have had better luck chasing him if they had stopped at the maintenance department and picked up a service truck!

I was just over there myself last week for work. I knew a few of us board members were over that way.

Clint Eastwood did quite well in the Gauntlet. That bus took some abuse.

I'm just disappointed I couldn't see what happened at the end of the chase in the video, was a fun watch. I'll have to live vicariously since I don't really want to get locked up for awhile.

Spec cop car was hilarious by the way.

Hmmm... are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? There are 100,000's of these cars all over. Cheap and fast. Damn, it would be like a "higher level" spec class version of chump car!
