I have a some anime movies my kids like to watch on DVD. All of a sudden I can't get the English Audio to play regardless how may many times I make the selection in the set-up process. It'll play Japanese with English subtitles but won't do English audio. Any idea on whether that can be fixed or if it's time for a new player?

Try playing the movie on a PC using VLC. Can you select the audio there? Just to make sure it's not a problem with the movies - e.g. maybe certain episodes don't have English audio? It's a common problem that English translations lag far behind the latest episode.

That would be an extremely odd way for a DVD player to break, but it's possible.

We used to play these specific DVD's on this specific player with no problem...

Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?

Is that player by any chance connected to the Internet and has updated its firmware?

In reply to BrokenYugo:

I'll try that, but I think the house has suffered at least one power outage since it played correctly.
