FWIW, I was not suggesting a government solution. I was ranting at us stupid parents who allow this kind of BS and say NOTHING.

Unfortunately there are sucky parents everywhere. A lot of them just don't care what their kids do. They would rather be friends than parents.

Cannot imagine they let kids of any age do this in a school setting. The schools around here would pull that kid out of class so fast that tried anything like that.

But I cannot knock the use of them for kicking the habit. My brother a smoker of 10 years and 1 pack a day used one to kick the habit in 3 months, basically he just diluted down the nicotine juice till he was off. He still uses it with just water vapor because it gives him something to do with his hands.

I did a lot of weird (and unhealthy) things to kick my 5 pack a day habit. No regrets.

Please note, my rant was entirely about minors, and they are not using them to kick habits. They are using them to develop habits.

I actually just had a co-worker tell me he uses his because it is "relaxing." He has never been a smoker. Then again, this is the same guy who slams a few energy drinks a day and uses whatever gas station pills he can to stay awake...

Are toxins better when they occur naturally??

I wasn't trying to say anything like that...just adding a fact. If anything that should better show how serious a nicotine addiction is.

it's scary to think that Nicotine is really an enzyme that the tobacco plant uses to kill parasites.. it might be working

I would applaud the creative efforts of these corporations to find new ways to make money if not for the fact that these same corporations are in complete control of the only regulatory authority that could stop their evil scheme!

IRRC the Greeks discovered asbestos, and discovered all the miners died of lung disease too. 50 years ago it was just advertized as perfectly safe.

When I was 16, I used to work in a garden center. (This was about 20 years ago). We actually sold bags of tobacco to be used as insect killers, or maybe they were rodent killers. They listed the active ingredient as "nicotine".

I look at all the people "vaping" these days and it makes me think we're living in some weird sci-fi dystopian future. If a movie director had put e-cigs in a sci-fi flick 50 years ago everyone would have laughed at how ridiculous it was (probably while puffing on their own Pall Malls in the theatre). But, here we are.

A buddy of mine is opening up his own e-cig store pretty soon. He mixes his own flavors and everything. shrug I've no ambition to try the stuff, but to each their own.

Years ago I was eating breakfast in a restaurant in Albany, GA. At the booth next me were a group of cigarette sales people discussing their day's tasks. All were madly puffing away. I do not miss those good old days.

Nicotene is a hell of an insecticide. Cigar smoke is deadly on thrips.

In reply to volvoclearinghouse:

Well, if you soak a few packs of cigarettes in a glass of water, then filter out the solid matter, the finished water/nicotine combination can allegedly kill a person pretty quickly.

Edit: Also, I had a bit of a chuckle to other night, a group of people in the 70's were sitting in a bar here in Muncie(nazistic smokefree policy), had an open tab, and just laughing at the waitor(maybe 21yo) yelling at them for smoking their pipes inside while threatening to kick them out.....very calmly they said, "Does this mean we don't have to pay the tab?"

They were still in there drinking when I left 2hrs later.

True of anything that can be purchased on the net. Dumb argument.

You can't legally buy these if under 18.

They contain nasty shut.

They can help you quit.

Everything is marketed at younger persons.

Learn about this stuff before having a coronary based on what you heard from 1 source.

1: Why does that make it a dumb argument? Kids can still easily buy it online, and the parents would never know.

2: In some states. It is not federally regulated, so it is up to the individual state.
