Not for me, our son.  He has his grandfather's camera collection in the guest bedroom; not exiting but cool stuff. 8mm wind up camera, a Brownie etc.   His MiL gave him an old camera with a picture it took.  A guy on a dragon taken at the Flag Day Parade June 14, 1942. at 70th St & 5th by her father.  MiL gave him the photo and the camera that shot it.

Ian googled around and found it wasn't the Flag Day parade, but the New York at War parade.  There were 500,000 in the parade and 2.5 million in attendance.  It ran up 5th Avenue from Washington Square Park to 79th Street.  The final image is from Wikipedia.  You can see the float at 0:45 below, it's a BIG piece of gear.

Very cool. I have that exact camera sitting on a shelf in my office. It was my grandmothers.

I understand the parade started at 6:00amand ran for 12 hours.  Don't know why it didn't cross my mind before, but we've got mu FiL's Brown & Howell wind up 8mm video camera down in the basement, with spools of film a light bar etc.  Time to dig around....
