Just saw news that there was a pretty big earthquake 10km underground SW of the Cayman Islands.
We are actually on a ship heading there- so if you see news from Cozumel or Grand Cayman, can you please post it? A current 8pm cst search of the news is really light right now.
And if there is no news because nothing was effected, that's news too.
The only thing I'm seeing is a possible tsunami threat to the Carmen's until 10:30 tonight. Up to 1 meter possible.
"A Tsunami Threat continues for Cuba, where a tsunami may reach 1 to 3 meters above the tide, and Honduras and the Cayman Islands, where a tsunami may reach up to 0.3 to 1 meter above the tide," the warning center wrote on social media just before 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. "

Brother in Law is currently in the Caymans. Curious to hear what he has to say when he returns.
I am not sure if much of the Caymans is more than 1-3 meters above sea level! It's not a big island.
In reply to aircooled :
At least one meter. And it was so close, if something bad happened it would have happened hours ago. The warning to Puerto Rico was for just before 8pm est.
Now we have to hope it doesn't happen while we are on the island.
The most recent news I'm seeing says no tsunami risk:

BL just checked in. Total non event on the Caymans; some people felt something but nor real shake-and-bake event worth talking about.

In reply to NOHOME :
Thankfully this was nothing. When I was younger, a 7.9 quake rose the highest mountain range in Idaho 3 ft. So something of this magnitude could have moved the ocean floor a huge amount.
