I haven't gotten gas yet this week, but if it becomes an issue I'll stop going into the office until things settle down.

As for emergencies, I have about 30 gallons in the snowmobiles that I could transfer to the cars if absolutely necessary.

Seeing the lines at the gas stations takes me back to my childhood. One of my earliest car memories is sitting in line in our old Plymouth wagon we called Ol' Three Legs, watching people to see which pump would open up next. What a trip, that was 47 years ago.

Gas is out near me at the 4 stations I tried in NW Gainesville Fl. So is the 4runner. Fortunately it goes a few miles beyond zero range so I was able to get home from the hunt. Spent a bit of time waking up the challenge VibeGt so I can get to work tomorrow. The battery is trying to give up so I will be carting jumper cables with me.

My wife was supposed to be working the TNiA tomorrow at CMP. There is no gas available in Kershaw or Camden at the moment and it's far enough from home she would need to fill up to make it back. She's not going and it looks like they may have to cancel the event.

If there's no fuel available, I doubt many people are going to want to burn what they have in their tanks to drive around in circles for a few hours anyway.

There are no lines this morning and it looks like most stations still have fuel. Charleston still gets some fuel from the port.

Also a gas supplier in the panhandle of Florida was shut down due to EPA violations, so we can add that area in as well.

A lot of my morning commute is slightly downhill, which helps big time.  It's a 6 mile drive and I used roughly 1.2 miles of range on the Prius battery.  Zing!  And that was with heated seats on.

Also I've noticed that Cleveland isn't affected by this shortage but gas prices still went up to $3/gallon.

I actually needed gas in the minivan, so I decided to go to my local station this morning before work.  6:40AM, so not a ton of traffic and when I pulled into the station I was the only car there.  I need to fill the MINI as well (driving out to Carlisle on Friday), so I'll head out to fill that up at the nearest Sunoco (the MINI generally only gets Sunoco Ultra).

So at least here in the Philly suburbs, it looks like business as usual.

Karen and Kyle didn't learn their lesson last year when everyone panic bought TP.

I don't wish death on anyone. Seems petty. Besides, we don't know the back story. Maybe they're running an animal shelter and need to keep generators running and the delivery truck isn't coming for a week. We don't know.

I haven't seen any issues north of Pittsburgh in Beaver County. I went out yesterday to get gas for the riding lawnmower and topped off my car as well. I must have looked like a dick getting 10 gallons of gas in my gas cans but I was totally out and I have to cut in the next few days.

I wonder if my area is going to be affected at all by this.

Atlanta seems to have been hit pretty badly by panic buying - yesterday had pretty long lines and it looks like most stations in the area were out of gas this morning.

That reminds me of the time in the UK when the tanker truck drivers went on strike and the Southeast of the UK didn't get any petrol deliveries for a few days.

Some geniuses filled up their wheelie bins (trash cans) with petrol. They subsequently found out that the plastic used to manufacture them wasn't petrol proof and that they had a container full of flammable liquid slowly melting in front of their houses.

The fire brigade apparently wasn't very amused.

Liquid lines generally carry a variety of liquid fuels (jet fuel, diesel, gas) and they send them in slugs. The liquids are moved slow enough so they are not turbulent so they don't mix. When it passes a terminal the operator looks at the specific gravity of the material and then pulls off the required product into their tank farms.

Ahh pictures. I'm told NC for the shiny happy people with the 100 gallon tank and the garbage cans with the signs. No idea on the source of the other one.

Some day, when citizens take control of the airwaves back from energy, pharmaceutical, and defense companies, these self fulfilling prophecies of profit will go away.

Yesterday was insane here. Walmart was the only place with fuel, when ge whole.fleet was on empty due to sheer laziness on my part, and poor planning on the wifes.

Four hours later  the two dailies were.full.

This morning, Walmart is still the only place with fuel  no lines. Our tiwn kept inflation to .30 a gallon.

I saw assaults yesterday at Walmart.

Jeebus people.
