dearest hive,

i had a canadian buyer purchase a tool on ebay. ebay did not do the normal "send it to a hub and we will take it from there" invoice. I got a shipping quote from USPS because their postal code was provided with their offer, and when I went to create an invoice to add the shipping I got an "invoices cannot be created for international shipments" message. I'm currently stuck with no way to get paid or ship the item as I don't get the full address till paid but also can't get paid without an invoice. has anyone dealt with this before? ebay help is worthless thus far

thank you in advance

I used to sell to the USA from Canada all the time and never had that problem.

Must be a new thing.

This was many years ago, but I had to go back and edit a listing.  I had it listed as US only but that doesn't stop international viewers from seeing it.  Did you try editing the listing to include international shipping?  Long shot, but might be the case.

Can you maybe ignore the listing, accept Venmo, and ship it on your own?  You run the risk of it being taxed at the border.

I thought you're supposed to use the address of the hub.

Can you just purchase the shipping label on eBay directly? That's what I normally do and then eBay puts in the address for me.

I recently had one part go overseas and the address I "sent to" was the hub (located in Chicago I think).

Tell the buyer the issue.  They must have an idea.  See if they can Venmo or whatever the kids are using today.

I just shipped to Europe recently - hub worked for me and was very cheap.

I'm just seeing this so maybe you've already handled it as it's been a few days. When selling internationally using the eBay forwarding service you do not need to invoice the buyer. That's why it's complaining. The buyer should go to their my eBay page or the item page and pay from there. I've been the seller a lot but never the buyer so I'm not clear on how their end works but on the seller end of things you just ship it once they've paid. If you didn't put a shipping price or calculated shipping in I'm not sure how that would work. But since you're shipping to a us address it's just like selling to any other us buyer -- except for the inability to send them an invoice.
