I hate that a seller cannot leave a negative feedback, I wish it weren't so. I sold a guy my old gameboy with games and accessories, he says it arrived broken, instead of shipping it back he leaves me negative feedback, wtf. I'm wishing he wasn't all the way out in washington state, so we could meet and discuss the problem....AHHH.

I'm thinking I'm not going to use ebay to sell on anymore, there are other services out there. I'll buy things, but selling is too much of a headache for me.

I haven't sold stuff on e-bay for several years now, and have been much happier as a result.

Scrap metal prices are back up, and that's offset things nicely. I took my almost last load of what had been ebay fodder to the scrapper, and probably made as much there as I would have on ebay, with a lot less headaches.

Ebay has been moving towards making it worse and worse for sellers (particularly small, private sellers) for years.

It's really more of a discount/outlet mall than an auction/flea market site now, and that's a damn shame.

I second all of the above. I hate selling stuff on eBay. The fees are crazy high and any disputes are heavily weighted in the buyer's favor.

I hate this because I have a few parts I need to sell. I ahve bought a fwew things over the years and been pretty happy except for a sleer that sent me the incorrect brake drums. I lost $40 in shipping on that one. I tried to leave a negative feedback (due to other reasons too) , and they were no longer a registered seller. Yet they had a feedback of like 27,000+.

Ebay blows worse and worse every year. It's all about GRM, CL, and specialized forums to sell things now.

Ebay sucks because it isn't everything you want it to be. I buy more stuff on ebay now than ever.

There is no way I could find deals like the ones I find on ebay, anywhere else. I stopped selling because the fees were too high, but for buying, I love it - and I'm in Canada, so shipping can be a bitch.

Does 1 negative feedback even matter? Not to me it doesn't.

ebay really screwed the pooch on the last changes. Thankfully I have never had to leave negative as a seller.. but I have left it as a buyer

Ebay sucks for both now, it just sucks more for sellers. Or at a minimum ebay is worse for buyers than it would be with more reasonable seller policies.

Ebay sucks for sellers as you admit.

Driving away sellers = a lower chance of finding something rare/uncommon,. Reduced variety is not good for buyers. For things that are more common, driving away sellers = reduced supply which is also not good for buyers.

Driving away the small sellers is good for the big sellers, and bad for both small sellers and all buyers.

I have a hard time believing an old GameBoy arrived broken. You probably could have tossed that thing in the bottom of a gravel truck, loaded gravel on top, and it gotten to the customer with no damage.

Unless I have something that fetches SIGNIFICANTLY more money on ebay, I sell things locally. I've stopped parting out cars because of ebay.

He stated to ebay dispute resolution that the gameboy was missing the lens cover. Which I found rather funny, it never came with one, and I couldn't find one anywhere online either.

Lakewood, WA. my buddy does skip tracing, got me some details about the buyer. He's 55, lives in an apartment, last worked in a comic book store, before that worked at an adult book store. Single, never married no kids, has 1 sister whom is in bankruptcy for a $72,000 house out of IL. Now he sells older games for nintendo's, sega genesis's, etc, as well as game manuals on ebay.

I was considering just making a separate account, then buying a bunch of his cheapy manuals, complete the transaction, then give him 3 or 4 negative feedbacks in a row. Might effect his business a bit. Better then a friend of mine, he fly to AK, and had a chat with someone that ripped him off for a $1000 paintball gun, then the guy reversed the paypal transaction, out $2k or so.

You guys take this stuff too seriously.

Never had with a private deal go bad, get screwed by a store, or restaurant? It happens. Move on.

There's no way I would have found the IR 231 gun for $50, the chip amp to my door for $20, the RCL meter for the same price, or the obscure music CD's that I've never seen anywhere, without ebay. Those were all within the last few weeks. Whenever I'm looking for something, I go to ebay first. I'll take the $60 headlight bulbs I use in my car for $20-at my fingertips, every time, and only on ebay.

And if ebay was friendlier to small sellers you'd find more of that stuff cheaper.

Ebay has no interest whatsoever in giving a rat's ass about its small account sellers. They've got your money, and you don't move enough volume that they're afraid to lose you, so they don't care. Bonus now that they own PayPal that they seriously double dip and the fees, and the same company (ebay) that isn't helping the sellers out in the first place out is also locking the accounts of sellers when buyers complain. Then since ebay makes it hard to document bad buyers you have to jump through more hoops getting it fixed when an ebay sale goes bad than almost any other sale.

The real kick in the pants is this: Despite Ebay sucking so bad, anyone trying to start a competitor to them is pretty much fighting a losing battle. Posting on specialty forums, Craigslist and here are the way to go for the little guys.

Ain't that the truth. I can't sell anything for under about $20 without loosing money. Listing fees, selling fees, picture fees, seller fees, paypal fees, etc.

I do remember when some years ago ebay was a great place to sell piddly stuff, and we all though flea markets and such would disapear. It looked like they would to. But ebay started courting the big sellers, and actively driving the littler ones out.

I dunno Zombie, I do sometimes buy stuff still on e-bay. But other than chinese knockoffs, which frequently don't work, I don't find things cheaply on ebay. I can usually find it cheaper on Amazon, and a whole lot of smaller stores will sell cheaper still.

The only thing that irritates me (as a buyer) about Ebay is shipping via UPS.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! The good news is that I found a full stainless steel turbo back exhaust for ~$400 shipped to Canada via USPS for the STi. SCORE! add me to the ebay lovers

Yeah... I have a pile of crap I'd love to unload for a few $$... but the my last few experiences selling on Ebay have soured me... even my last purchase on Ebay didn't go so well either, although I'll admit that was partly my fault.

I use to do quite well on eBay. Been selling since 1999. Mostly auto parts. I now no longer sell items under $20 not worth the hassle. Unable to leave buyers a negative is total BS. All eBay cares about is the fees.period. In the end. it has been become just another way for the big guys to advertise. Sad really, they ran out the very people who helped make them what they are today.
