I used an electric shaver once. Once. It did a E36 M3ty job and I couldn't turn my head for 3 days. Never tried again.

Shaving is one of the only chores known to man that is not enhanced by the use of power tools.

Twin blade disposables, even though it galls me to throw out plastic like that (AFAIK no one recycles the things). I used a Mach 3 for a while as well but as noted before the refills are outrageous. It's as bad as buying a $79 printer that takes $50 ink cartridges.

I used a Norelco electric for a short time (birthday present), it pulled my whiskers so hard that my face was red and sore all the time.

Quoted for truth. I bought a $30 printer that cost my $35 to replace the ink.

Shaving in the shower with soap is the way to go. I haven't used shaving cream in at least a decade.

Strop it. As in run in backwards on your forearm before and after you use it. It doesn't make it magically sharp as new, but it sure extends the life of the blade by months.

Anyone know where to get a blade for this thing? I can find the double edge one easily, but the one I have that is similar to this one needs a blade where the two holes are offset, and all the blades Ive bought the holes are even.

Try a Snow and Nealley Double Bit Axe (pn 97264). You'll never go back to the sissy thing you're using now.

I've always used an electric. Gets the job done well enough. My facial skin isn't smooth enough to get away with a razor. Or more likely, I'm not doing it right... but at my age, I'm kinda set in my ways and don't really feel like dealing with the blood-loss required to learn.

Gillette Fusion Power, as well. I've had a Norelco for years that I occasionally use for a while, but I get fed up with the crappy job it does and go back to the blades. I've been thinking about getting a safety razor, as recommended a while ago, in this section of GRM Forum.

Been a schick slim twin user for the last 20 years. The last time I tried one of those swiss army knife 4 or 5 blade units the sheer size of the head could not get into all the contours of my chiseled facial physique.

Now that I am older and fatter I am betting the 5 blade monster would do a better job assisted by the encroaching pudginess.

I use a Mach 3 'cause that's what the GF buys for her...legs.

Until recently I was using some snazzy Khiels and a brush, but when I ran out and desperately needed a shave, I used hot water and nothing else. Perfectly presentable shave, zero irritation. Granted, I used a light touch and went with the grain, as it were, and it wasn't the closest shave I've ever had - certainly not baby's-butt smooth - but it looked for all the world like I was clean shaven, and it took about 35 seconds. I won't be screwing around with shaving cream again.

I use a Mach 5 or fusion or whatever its called. Straight razor gives the best shave though, but its a little easier and safer with the Gillete when I'm half asleep.

Admittedly, I thought there was very little difference between any of the NON-electric razors. Then, after using one that had 3 or 4 blades (I don't do brands, either), I noticed it did a much better job than a razor that had 1 or 2 blades.

That said, PREPARATION can have a huge impact on how good a shave you get. If all you do is throw some water at your face and then run over it with a blade....well, it will look like heec. Use hot water, and then let the shaving cream sit on your face for a minute or two, then use a good blade with deliberate action....and it will definitely show. I even take a shower right before shaving for "a special occasion" to make sure my shave will be the closest it can be.

When I let my beard grow, I use electric trimmers....I just can't get a good trim with scissors...thanks to being left-handed and sort of dyslexic.

I got my 85 year old father an electric shaver, thinking it would keep him from having that "little old man" stubble. He couldn't get the hang of it, so it wound up at a thrift shop. My little brother uses an electric at times...be he has the hygiene of a billy goat, so it's hard to judge from him if it's a good idea/time saver.

Me too, I've had my Remington triple blade electric for about 5 years and it's still hummin' along, does a fine job and shaves close enough to cut you if you don't pay attention. I bought it at some big box electronics store for <$35, replacement blade set cost $15 every 6-8 months.

Gillette Mach 3 user now. Shave with cold water too.

Never found an electric shaver that would deal with my beard growth either, unless I wanted to look like an action movie hero with a perpetual 2 day's worth of stubble. I usually stick with Gillette Sensor razors.

Who else wonders if there's a secret tie-in between the Ford Fusion's grille and the Gillette Fusion?

yea.. I learned to shave in the shower too. Not only can you ditch the can of cream.. but if you wash your hair and body first.. your skin is nice and soft and so are the hairs you are about to shave.

I personally hate both shaving and facial hair.. but shaving is only a brief annoyance while any kind of facial hair makes me nuts until I remove it.. so I shave
