The show Eureka was brought up in another thread. I decided to start watching it last night. I like it so far. Is this show still on?

Do I want to know how many Cherokees Sheriff Carter goes through?

I find it funny that the Deputy and old Sheriff have newer Jeeps and Carter gets stuck with a 15 y.o. Cherokee.

Show ended with season 5 in a fairly poor manner. There is supposed to be a special to round up the end of the series at some point this year (or did it already air?)

FWIW I enjoyed it unfortunately I have to time shift the episodes so I was one of those tech savy viewers which lead to it's demise (you know because it only counts if it's live.) Definitely worth a watch.

for this reason, I actually try to do the on-demand for the shows I like. costs nothing but they get the statistics on what shows I like.

Good show, a bit predictable sometimes but a good mix of sci-fi, humor, campy-ness - never takes itself too seriously. Final season (5th) starts in mid-April.

Oh, and Deputy Lupo.

It definitely took a dive since the first few seasons. Lost some of its edge and direction when they did a crazy back in time episode to start a season...It is still an enjoyable exercise in sci-fi as some of the technologies have basis in real life theoretical physics.

Does she play a zombie or a vampire? Either way she looks something other than human and more than a bit scary in that picture.

I've never heard of this show. This is one of those times that I question quitting Netflix to make a point.

I chose a picture of her from the show. She's average looking, but her attractiveness is due more to her brains....also a pretty good singer.

I watched Eureka from Episode one, it has been generally a fun show, nothing amazing just good fun.

The back in time and repositioning the crew members was an interesting way to shake up the series IMHO.

Because of this thread I watched the pilot last night. I enjoyed it and didn't realize that it was a Syfy series. It lacked the over the top cheesiness and not so special effects that I am used to from that channel. The missus watches Warehouse 13 and I find that pretty cringeworthy more often than not.

In reply to ditchdigger:

Syfy (idiotic naming scheme is where it went down hill) has had some pretty decent shows over the years. Eureka, Farscape, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, BSG.

All are pretty much worth a watch. SG:U... not so much.

On a side note I'd do some horrible things to get Firefly and Earth: Above and Beyond back on the air. Both are old Fox series though.

Felicia Day definitely ticks all the nerd-love boxes (love her in The Guild), but in Eureka I was really diggin' on Jaime Ray Newman.

I loved Space: Above and Beyond. I haven't seen it since it was on the air but I vividly remember one of the main characters sticking his hands into the gooey controls of an alien ship and stating that if he felt a prostate he was out of there.

In reply to ditchdigger:

That's right Space: Above and Beyond. It's been a few years.

Also Babylon 5 is pretty much a must watch for sci-fi nerds. That is one series that the writers stuck by their guns and weren't coerced by the studios into writing in extra seasons for the sake of doing so (ahem Lost). Good arc of a story ended in a thought out manner because it was planned.

Wow... Sometimes I think I'm the only one who watched that show. BTW, it was "Space: Above and Beyond" :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_Above_and_Beyond

There was a short lived comic book series as well.

I've watched Eureka since #1. I enjoy the show, but like most of the SciFi/SyFy produced series, I think the long, irregular production schedule has hurt it's ratings. Plus, I think the producers have seemingly established a ratings wish that is unrealistic in today's market. This seems to make them cancel shows that have a loyal following and as a result, I think a lot of their early viewers are less willing to invest time in watching a show knowing it'll probably get canceled in a couple of seasons.

I don't mind Warehouse 13 so much. Sanctuary, however, was simply terrible. I actually like SG:U, but it seems to be an aquired taste. The characters were definitely more flawed and less likeable than in past SG series. I was hoping they would continue to produce more direct-to-DVD episodes, but I guess the last two didn't generate enough revenue.
