I still wouldn't finish all the projects in my head!
I ran across one of these locally for less than Challenge money.
I've got a MIG, got Saw-Zall, got beer; I'm seeing a 149" wheelbase plush riding El Camino.

nah.. I think I would leave that one alone.. as least as far as butchering it. They have to be pretty rare.
Lowered, dechromed, and with a big engine and 5 speed I can get behind
Caterpillar diesel swap, 2 speed rear, 8 lug axles & Chevy 3500 suspension, 5th wheel hitch... luxo tow vehicle.
I'm almost thankful that my racebike hasn't run since we got the F250 4x4. I get a nosebleed just thinking about trying to get a bike into that bed.
Now, the El Caddymino... would you even need a ramp to ride in?
I wasn't going to say anything, but if I don't say anything, someone else is going to say it, and then say I stole their idea. I really, really, really, want to do a "Limousine Liberals" theme at LeMons. As long as the safety equipment is there, I can't really see a problem with passengers in the back...and a bar....
I don't think there were any 4 door versions, but funeral 'flower cars' were pickups based on Caddies, Buicks, Lincolns, etc. Maybe you can find a beat up flower car and a beat up sedan and merge the two.
Bob
I would want leave that one exactly the way it is. I might not even change the wheels.
BTW I like poopshovels idea of a Lemons Limo
DILYSI Dave wrote: Gotta admit - a crew cab El Camino would be pretty neat. But don't cut that one up.
start with one rusty elco.
add one malibu wagon.
?
Profit!

DILYSI Dave wrote: Whoa - I think that Camino uses the upper door frame and rear window from the wagon.
not exactly. the elco door is straight across at the bottom of the greenhouse, whereas the wagon rear door kicks up. but all the parts are there to make it happen, that's for sure. i wonder if it's been done -- aside from the subaru baja, i mean.
it even looks like the top of the elco bed side matches the bottom of the wagon quarter windows. srsly, this is one of those things that should happen.
instead of cutting up a wagon, isn't the standard 4 door almost the same rear door / C pillar design?
Edit: On closer inspection, No. No it doesn't. Nevermind, as you were
Cadillac Mirage is an aftermarket edition available for way too much money, but if you're a rich Texas cattle rancher, why not?
I was out in the garage this afternoon putzing with a new seat for the R-90, it took me about two hours to do 30 minutes of work. Big projects are off the table for a while....

You and me both. Ideas currently in my head. COE diesel hauler, Plymouth Cricket with rotary engine, MG 1300 with turbocharged D-series and some British sedan with a TR6 motor, 5 speed and triple Webers.
Edit: And a rally AWD Justy.
i've had a couple in the back of my mind ideas that have mostly just sat, but a couple involve thunderbird SC power. thunderbird SC 3.8 into an SN95 mustang - same bolt pattern, makes for a lighter car than the GT with 300-350hp. combine with road race suspension and go run AI or CMC.
the other tbird sc powered idea is basically what has become the ecoboost f150, but would have been the 97-04 body style that came with the 4.2l v6, block should bolt up, T5 trans, SVT lightning suspension and 17inch steelies for full on fleetside sleeper look.
i'd also thought about dropping a 302 into an f150 since they share bolt patterns with the v6s but never got very far into that thought.
The one that's been gnawing at my brain for too long involves something from the sixties.....
Kid's wedding in October, then I buckle down on the R-90. Lets see what Spring brings.
Poopy, I am not sure if they had anyone in the back, but last winter's 24hrs of lemons arse-freeze-apoloosa was the first time I have witnessed a limo drifting...
